Regarding this thread, I am gonna ask my brother about this tomorrow. He's a biologist that works at a Harvard lab, they're all about evolution and stuff, so he'll know about this more than any of us. Until then, well, I am NOT a biologist in Harvard lab, so I am just going to wait till tomorrow.

i might not work at "harvard" but i am a biologist, i know a little bit about evolution.

Can you brew me some beer plz?

I was going to ask him becuse he's a biologist not cause he works there.

But I am really lazy so I don't want to anymore.

Here, have some Poast

Vathek Wrote:You're the person asserting that they exist. Where's your proof that is reliably tested, and not message-board postings or third-party anecdotal evidence? The person saying 'x exists' is the one who shoulders the burden of proof. I assert that x does not exist, based on lack of evidence.

"Oh mighty one. Let me praise thee by presenting you with scientific evidence." The topic asked if you believe in mental abilities or not. It's obvious you don't yet you continue to hound others for showing the slightest interest in the thread. I am not here to prove the existence of mental abilities. I am here to discuss them. Your point has been made, move on.

Quantact Wrote:Actually the whole low percentage thing was told to me in science class. Unless there's been miraculous discoveries about the brain in the last 10 years there must be something to it.

There are certain people that only use 1% of their brains because that 1% controls their drinking and fuucking mechanisms. Glitter

Google % usage of brain.

Who here understands what the brain actually is? What it is is a large, complex group of neurons that communicate with eachother through synapses and send relays to control the rest of the body. There's nothing a group of nerves can do to move something without telling the muscles to do so. If they could, they would be breaking laws of physics. I don't care if you believe in mental abilities, but if you think that they can be scientifically proven then you're only using 10% of your brain because the rest is damaged Rolleyes

If you don't like people discussing things that don't have scientific evidence, then don't come to this thread. Same to you, Vathek.

There are many things about the brain that are yet to be discovered. It doesn't mean that because nobody has discovered/tested these things, they do not exist.

Then by all means, go get a Ph.D in neuroscience and spend the rest of your life trying to see if there's a way for people to telekinesis pomegranate around.

I believe I will take my absence; the thread has been lambasted enough. Adieu.

That wasn't my point. What I was saying is that there's no physical way for telekenisis to exist. To lift a book off a desk you need to use a force greater than that of gravity, which can't be done with a large tangle of neurons. All I'm saying is that telekenesis can't exist physically. Maybe it exists on a different level of existence, who knows.

There's no scientic explanation, but there are many theories.

One is that the electromagnetic waves of the brain affect the object. There are many many more, though this is the one I think is most reasonable out of the few I found.

Go turn on an X-Ray and try to lift a book with it. And brains don't use electromagnetic waves. We use calcium and sodium ions. So even if electromagnetic waves could move an object, we don't have any inside our heads. Besides, if we did have waves inside of our heads, if they were ultraviolet or a higher frequency we'd all die of brain cancer.

If that's one of your best scientific theoreys, then once again I say you can't prove it scientifically. However, it still may lay in another different part of existence.

I'm not interested in proving it scientifically; there's already visual proof. Go look for it. (youtube)

Well then why haven't the youtube people claimed their 1 million dollar prize from anyone yet? I think anyone who puts their "talent" on youtube of all places is just looking for their 15 minutes and maybe a bit of free money from crazy people here and there.

I think that if all these people claiming to have super powers failed when it comes to actual scientific testing of their powers, it most likely doesn't exist within our sphere of knowledge. There's been a lot of people born, and if none of them have any kind of power, I don't think any normal human will.

There's visual proof for UFOs and ghosts on YouTube too.

I saw a youtube video of somebody disproving that psychic abilities exist. There was one man who claimed to be able to do surgery with his bare hands, and had videos of it too. Then this guy disproved it by doing the same thing shown in the video. Just because you can see it doesn't mean it's true. Look at every single magic trick ever created.

If you're lucky someone can demonstrate it to you IRL. But they're not common.

Do you believe in mental abilities? Do you have any? - holyforest - 2009-04-04

I have a mental voice and can impose my thoughts into visions, but I also have 2 more.

1st one is that when I dream, some part of my dream actually occurs in reality.

2nd is that many times in a week I can sense anything that's about to happen about 1 minute before it actually happens. It's like I go into this in-between state bewteen real life and something else. It feels real in the pre-event and like right when I phase back into the real world, the event happens. Still haven't really gotten used to it either...catches me off guard sometimes.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I'm a powerful sorcerer.

The proof I remember most specifically was when I was playing Fire Emblem 9. I had Ellincia in the swamp and she was completely surrounded by monsters. It was their turn and they'd gotten her within a hit of killing her. After she killed like... the 5th one, she leveled. Right before the level occured, I commanded (shouted) that she gain speed and luck (because those give evasion, which would help her live). So she gained exactly just speed and luck. It was awesome.

Once I can think of other incidents of my sorcery, I'll throw them on here.

Gunna bump this thread, even though I should probably just let it die.

I have seen someone demonstrate. It's called a magic show. Excellent

Rephrase:

If you're lucky you can find someone who can demonstrate to you immediately when you ask them, without any wierd illusions or tricks. It's an ability.

"It's the big lies that are more likely to be believed."

Any time I've ever seen something along the lines of telekinetic powers, they're all proved to be tricks or faked.
