Southperry gaming awards (phase 2 (send in your nominations!)) - Sarah - 2011-11-29 Best music is best soundtrack, I just wasn't thinking when I wrote it. Best Fighter should be added too, I think. I feel like we can get more good games noticed by sticking with platform, multiplatform, and a few select genres to fit SP's needs. So here's the list, and I guess we can start nominations now unless someone comes up with a good reason not to

"Most Anticipated" is a future game you're anticipating, not a past game that's got the most hype behind it. This is because most anticipated game for 2011 will either fall under GOTY or Most Disappointing. You don't need to nominate in ever category, obviously. If you don't own a console you can skip it. Please nominate FOUR games per category. Please only nominate games from 2011. You have TWO WEEKS to nominate. Nominations end on December 13th, 2011. Minecraft is disincluded because they official release is not different enough from the two years of "beta" to actually call it a 2011 release. There are two large differences between this beta and the beta of many other games and they are that 1) the ridiculous duration and 2) the fact that you had to pay for it. For all intents and purposes it may as well have been an official release back in 2010, at the very least. Here is a list to help remind you of this years releases: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_in_video_gaming Southperry gaming awards (phase 2 (send in your nominations!)) - Jedward - 2011-11-29 Woo! Here we go. Wait. Are we PMing you our noms or just posting here? I'm OK with posting here. EDIT: Here's a quick, copypastable nomination sheet.

EDITEDIT: "Most Anticipated" is a future game you're anticipating, not a past game that's got the most hype behind it. Sarah asked me to make this note. Depending on the number of responses received this may also be the voting phase. If I get lots, I'll be posting the top 4 for each category (as nominated by you) for one more vote. Southperry gaming awards (phase 2 (send in your nominations!)) - xBTAx - 2011-11-29 Is there going to be any kind of scaling regarding the order of the things sent in, if this counts for voting as well? I don't really know how to word this well, but... Say I send you in 4 things for a category, and the first of those 4 is my absolute highest recommendation for that category. Shouldn't that be counted for more votes/points/something than the other 3? I could very easily see us running into problems where something wins just because everyone stuck it in as their 4th choice, despite it not actually anyone's first choice for that category. This is just the nominations phase, anyway. Since obviously not everyone will be sending in the same 4 games for every category, the 4 most "popular" will then be put to a vote. I've already got several submissions so I think a voting phase after the nominations phase will be necessary. The reason I've decided against nominating in the topic is because I don't want people to see their favourite games may not have been repeatedly nominated and then decide to not to participate as a result. Southperry gaming awards (phase 2 (send in your nominations!)) - Sarah - 2011-12-06 Nothing? Still accepting nominations! Though I do need a LOT more so tell all of your Southperrian friends. Noms end on December 13th. Southperry gaming awards (phase 2 (send in your nominations!)) - Corn - 2011-12-06 What are the current nominations, so I don't double up on some? Just nominate your favourites, Corn. I don't have the energy to explain this right now. The point is to double up on some choices. That way they can move onto the voting stage. Think of this as the semi-finals with the voting round as the finals. Southperry gaming awards (phase 2 (send in your nominations!)) - Sarah - 2011-12-11 Still looking for nominations. Started off great with like 5 people sending them in within the first hour and then... I've got like 7 PMs. So send in your nominations. Still got like two days. Southperry gaming awards (phase 2 (send in your nominations!)) - xBTAx - 2011-12-12 Yeah, I was really dumb and didn't send mine in and then got really busy... so I'll send mine tonight. Southperry gaming awards (phase 2 (send in your nominations!)) - Sarah - 2011-12-14 Extending this to Sunday because I need more nominations and also because I forgot to do it last night, though there's not much to be done. Southperry gaming awards (phase 2 (send in your nominations!)) - ChaosCorpse - 2011-12-15 Sorry for not throwing in any nominations even though I threw in suggestions for genres. I really haven't been able to play too many "new" games this year, so I felt that I would be biased towards the few I had played and have no real point of reference or comparison. The reason for anonymous nominations is that people can vote for their favourite games but ideally, with enough votes, the best ones will be the ones that are chosen. I'm just waiting for Eos to respond to a request before I present the awards. The nomination stage doubled as the voting stage because of a clear lack of interest. All votes were tallied using a point system of 4 - 1 points based on which place the nominations were put in (from 1 - 4, respectively). I would have voted for games but I declined to nominate anything because I'm lazy and I figured the games in the 4-5 categories that I would have nominated anything for were pretty popular and would already be nominated by someone else. |
