Southperry gaming awards (phase 2 (send in your nominations!))
#1
When that awful Spike GOTY thread got made I intended to make this thread for a less biased and more personal SPGOTY and other award ceremony.

The way this will work is that you can write-in via PM your picks for the following categories (also accepting category recommendations). Pick your top 4 for each, then I will sort through them and announce the winners and honorable mentions, voted for by you. Obviously winners will be chosen by most votes.

Categories:

Game of the Year
Best Nintendo Wii Game
Best PlayStation 3 Game
Best XBOX 360 Game
Best PC Game
Best Multiplatform Game
Best (3)DS Game
Best PSP Game
Best Indie Game
Best RPG
Best FPS
Best Fighting Game
Best of other genres
Best Online Multiplayer
Best Update to a Multiplayer Game
Best Story
Best Visuals
Best Soundtrack
Most Creative Game (Overall)
Most Anticipated
Most Disappointing

Any suggestions are welcome. Please do not send in your votes until the list is finalized.

I kind of feel like Minecraft should NOT be eligible because it has technically been available for a couple of years. We can vote on its eligibility too (do so in your posts below.) Also accepting arguments from either side regarding its eligibility if anyone feels THAT strongly about it.

...I don't understand what this post is supposed to be.

Apparently there is some confusion right now.

Do not re-suggest categories. Do not send in your nominations yet. Do not PM me at all at the moment.

Use this thread to suggest NEW categories and to discuss whether or not minecraft should be eligible.

Off the top of my head:
Best Storyline (maybe this would fall under Most Creative though...)
Best Protagonist/Antagonist

I meant Most Creative Overall, story should have its own category for sure.

This post is exactly what I'm looking for atm.

I dunno, I feel like Minecraft should be eligible because it just got out of beta this year (right...?) I mean before, while it was open alpha and open beta, and they did charge for it, it wasn't the completed game. Minecraft had no really hardly any chance of winning any game of the years back when it was released, but now, it stands a pretty good chance.

You also might as well add Best FPS and watch the Battlefield 3 and MW3 dudes fight.

Maybe "Best (insert genre here)" categories? Or is that a little too long of a list.
Was going to suggest best motion controlled game, but then realized the only really good one was SS.

Do you guys really want best genre? We could probably nail it down to rpg/fps/action-adventure and cover most of what SP plays.

Most expensive isn't happening because that's a matter-of-fact thing, not an opinion. Those other two will work though.

I think that list is perfectly fine. Maybe add in Most Anticipated and Most Disappointing?

This two must be in.

I think Minecraft should be in. Afterall many games went beta somewhere along their develop time, and since it just recently officially went out, should be in there.

Best Update on a MMORPG online game. <---- Always wanted it.

Best game trailer. It's important how a company publishes their games.

Minecraft probably shouldn't be in, as I said in my little rant-thing. I don't know if it'd actually be an issue here, but it really didn't actually come out this year.

Some game have single player and multiplayer modes. Example off the top of my head being SSBM/B the single player campaign mode is far less fun than multiplayer. Though you could argue that multiplayer don't really have much content with that one particular game. Another example being Super Mario Galaxy 2, player 2 can help out player 1 etc etc.

I have no idea if anyone even bothers, but a Best Mobile might be a decent category seeing how things are trending these days. Also seeing as I have no idea of what isn't crap asides from one company on that market, it'd be nice to have some recommendations there.

Another trend lately would be Best Remake. Maybe best in game humor? I honestly can't say since this year has more or less just been another for me to fall behind in minus a couple of key games.

Most challenging game? A lot of guys here play the same games, but I can see where it'd be subjective to availability/interest.

Yup, adding those would make it complete to me. Maybe add best game-trailer too? I'unno.
This should turn out interesting.

Edit: I personally don't think minecraft should be in... The idea behind the game is still the same and it won GOTY awards last year too.
