WEll, I haven't gotten strong enough to be invited to bosses either (although I invite myself), I still do see th e class descrimination going on time to time

As a Cleric some years ago, people didn't want you because of low damage, or only wanted you for heal. after a while, I quit because I too also wanted to dish out some damage in parties ir pq's

Later on I made an assassin, and loved the mobility, but the repetitiveness of one skill bothered me. Then there was the constant comparisons of dexless sins to regular dex sins, and every one would laugh because I chose to go with a regular dex build. Aside from that, most people just wanted haste.

As soon as I heard pirates were coming out in KMS and I watched a few videos, and I knew I would love them. I'm glad I got hacked, or else I might still be playing that wretched hermit and becoming an NL, instead of being close to a Sair. I just liked how early on outlaws are like sins, but also get elements, and can summon without the constant use of those summon rocks. Although I didn't get into parties too much at lower lvl's, it didn't bother me because soloing was never a problem

I never really payed attention to damage on any of my characters. On my hermit, I died alot more than I killed, and always knew someone out there would be stronger, so why bother buffing him up. Outlaws are fun, even though when they came out everyone was edging me to make a marauder for some reason, but Outlaws were much more worth my time than any other class I have played in the long run.

True enough, although I do enjoy playing my paladin , it sucks once in a while being outcasted for having low DPS as compared to other jobs in boss runs.

I have only been to zruns less than 10 times and my recent one with a friend rejected me after that particular run due to my damage.

Soooo then go play the class that you enjoy and what's the point of this thread?

FYI alot of the players enjoy contribute to their party and that's why they play a hardcore attacker or supporter class...

After all this game is mmorpg therefore the ultimate goal is to party and fight end game bosses...if you enjoy solo or non party friendly class then maybe mmorpg is not right for you

Sounds like you're suggesting everyone should be a "party friendly" class.

And what's wrong with that??

All class has ability to solo but not all are party friendly

for example 4th job mages are essentially the same since all u r doing is spamming ult at a corner of the map when you solo...but bishops are party friendly and use half as much pots...well I guess that's the price you have to pay inorder to feel special

Not really sure where you're going with this, but it sounds as if you support the idea that everyone should either be a high DPS attacker or a Bishop, and those who don't choose such classes deserve to be left out of the fun. Am I interpreting your words correctly?

Yes you are right on...I think I made my point pretty clear

I mean no one forced you to choose a certain class so you have to live with ur decision

Alrightly bub, just making sure.

I wholeheartedly disagree with your statement.

Uh...not trying to start a flame war or anything here but, if you're saying that people should either be high DPS dealers or Bishops (And if not, deserve to be left out) isn't that kind of forcing people to be certain classes? :f6:

I/L archmage with HS mule is worth more than bishops anyday.Rolleyes

The price of not having to pay for gen 30 alone will probably offset the pot cost till lv 200. (gen 30 is what...600 mil in scania? o-o; and i know more than 1 bishop who failed it..)

And when you ARE lv 200, you can just leave the HS mule (i leave it on top rope of skeles while i go bottom) by your friend's side since you won't get exp...unlike a bishop would have to constantly climb up to HS .

I don't get why everyone wants to 'boss' ...the people who goes and hosts are so fake ...I have a friend who seemed changed since she became a NL and made 'friends' with people that zak...now i have to listen to her go 'hi Big Grin zak today?' or 'L> attackers' on blist ...i liked her better before all this power went to her head.

I only boss with my guild every once so often. Bossing should be and remain a challenge that is fun to attempt, in my opinion, not a "oh my epenor bigger then urs" or "me duey payment" deal.
Once it becomes a business everyone kicks the fun out and kiss up efficiency's ass. Probably it's just another aspect of interactional activities, but I find the concept of profit-for-everyone bossing to be.. off-tracked.

Character worth - Kitteh - 2009-12-01

As a regular "for-profit Zakker", just because everyone gets paid doesn't mean it still isn't a challenge Rolleyes It's a nice incentive to bring people back each week. It's not like setting up a run, getting a channel, and making sure everything go smoothly still isn't a challenge :f6:

It's also a nice way to bring everyone together and feel, well, "special" for a while. When you're low-level, you always hear about how totally awesome bossing is, but then maybe find a group or two that's pretty cold or uncaring about you, basically making sure that you're a warm body that isn't totally incompetent. Being able to get your own group where everyone can have fun and say "We were able to accomplish that" is something special in and of itself.

To be honest, I almost completely stopped caring about pay splits from my old CWK runs after a while. Any money that I usually got was basically complimentary, enough to cover pot expenses, with the real money coming from bonus. But even if all I got was a knuckle 70, it still usually felt worth my time to come as it was a great opportunity to prove myself and test my upgrades and skills away from the "pen-and-paper" mentality that some people have for this game. Not to mention it was just plain fun (bracing yourself for mass deaths each time Rellik sends out his big, scary blast XD).

This isn't also to mention that some people actually do still need the money that regular bossing provides, and sacrificing some of the "fun" of the game shouldn't necessarily be looked down upon. After all, what is there left to do after a while besides train, boss, and optimize your character?

Character worth - Shidoshi - 2009-12-01

Heh, take my example:

I quit my priest at level 85 for about the same reasons as TobiasBlack.

Then I made an F/P, a crossbowman and a bandit.
I have a love for everything that's underused and has a different style of playing.

F/P was my way to go solo as a mage (i like mages) and I had lots of fun training with fire arrow on ghost pirates at level 60.

xbow was made because of how cool I found blizzard and the different skills at 4th job

Bandit was made simply because of my old love for the pile of 6 numbers, it's now level 49 and it's really paying off. It's loads of fun.

I didn't even think what would other people think of my decisions or if they would accept me for bosses, I'll just play the class that amuses me the most at each time.

I play bishop. I like damage and get jealous of other classes sometime, i still continue playing it. Why ? i like magic and hocus pocus. no other reason.

Character worth - Sn1perJohnE - 2009-12-01

Current playing characters:

132 Bowmaster
115 Marauder
120 Dawn Warrior (got today)

My Bowmaster will always hold a lot of worth to me, even if i dont use it for boss runs. Sure, I would like to use em on zak runs or something, and I do use it at angeo, but ive only been abale to do so for my own training purposes so far. This was also my very first character to make it to 4th job, and I did so with 6 int and 11 luk. I never really had much funding, so I would usually have to scrape by with very low damage until I could get something better. Ontop of everything, I was targeted by Papagoose12, who also is know by many other names. He tried to get my account and take everything I had worked for, and he never was able to.

My Marauder also hold a bit of high worth, as it is possibly my chance to be able to do some bossing. This is also my first character that I set out to put a limitation onto myself with, by having it as a 30 base dex.

My Dawn Warrior is my first character that actually had a fast training to 120, which might have spoiled me :c\

Overall, character worth is placed on the person using them. To someone else, all of my characters might be useless for the most part, as I play on dial up I can have a tendancy to die because I have a delay between using pots and such. But to myself, my characters are worth alot to me.

Well someone above me did mention that somehow it feels fake, I'd have to second that feeling. Indeed you aren't looked down upon for receiving your share of the profit in a boss run, but if you go out of your way with the profits stuffed in your mind, it's a different thing. Too many people heavily worshiping high-DPS in this game causes the imbalance and discrimination amongst classes, and profitable/efficient boss runs aren't even the first reason.
If anything, a "Hi Big Grin zak today?" person would be a nice example. Surely they wouldn't greet people like that on a daily basis if they were a F/P now, would they? If they're that much into the profit bossing brings, they eventually have to make themselves an efficient addition to the group, if they aren't already, thus the inevitable making a NL, or more general high-DPS classes and/or a Bishop because the rest is useless.

besides who cares about dps, who cares about boats, stars, 8 arrows a second or fists in asses.

there is nothing sexier than a blue afroed marksman walking around maple.

so what if marksmen suck more than a cheap toothless mexican whore at pay day in a mining colony in el paso? the afro is all that counts, and snipe.
