What character is the strongest? - Pauru - 2009-11-11

As a corsair, I don't actually see myself all that superior to NLs in terms of bossing.

NLs outdamage Sairs in situations where you end up taking a lot of damage over a short time. During the feet and tail phase of HT, The later stages of PB, and even at Targa, NLs can outperform Sairs simply because of their damage constancy. I still play a Sair because I am attracted to the raw power, but sometimes I envy NLs for not having to deal with a drop in power every few minutes.

That said, I can't stand relying on another class' buff to be at my peak, which is a huge shortcoming of NLs, and that's why I chose sair over NL. >__>

It annoys me to see people arguing over which of the two is better. They are both excellent DPS classes, which play totally differently, and have different strengths and weaknesses. It's good that Maple offers more than just 1 such class, since it makes for more character diversity.

Corsairs

I'm not going to act like a dreamer and claim all classes are equally good, but there's more than 1 class I would consider strongest(Hero for ignoring summons and still dealing damage to the main boss ; Bowmaster/Marksman for adding big damage to themselves and also the party ; Corsair for raw single-target DPS power ; Bishop for beating most small maps up badly, while raising the EXP yielded by mobs)

I consider Nightlord and Shadower good as well, but their room to outclass all others is very narrow, and comes down to a couple very specific situations.

With that said, I think while Buccaneer, Archmages and Paladin are the less powerful classes... though they are not exactly bad, just their mix of capabilities makes them pretty much always lose to at least one other class.
(Risky comment, since when it comes to Buccaneers I've only seen 2 different ones in action)

Edit: Not editing post out, because that would be cowardly, but I just realized this is *another* single target DPS topic, so I shouldn't have written such a long useless text for this matter.

See, this is the thing I hate about MS. Everything is literally written in stone. If DPS sheets says Corsairs = top, they are top. Period. Still looking for an MMO out there in which it requires reflexes and skills to beat a boss, instead of DPS and GEARS only. :/

But yes, Corsairs would win, hands-down.

I'mwith Khoi here, common guys- it's been proven countless of times that Corsairs outdmg any other job when it comes to DPS/strenght.
Every class has its glory and shame, so instead of looking at the dmg, why don't we just look for the most interesting (to your taste).? Like really though? This is probably the 8th thread I've seen of this and once again corsair come out on top. Just stop it.

On a more serious Note, what about the paladins, eh? =D

This is why we play third person shooters!

Anyway, why did this topic need to exist and why does it keep getting bumped?...

In practicality, MS does require skill at the hands of the player - and there's a reason people won't typically take random strangers on boss runs even if they're the perfect class - but given that a single player is making a choice between classes, they might as well choose one that gives them the highest dps-ability in whatever situation they are interested in. They can't change who they are, they can change what class they play.

I don't really consider that as skills though. My definition of it was more like a honed-style of playing something after months, or years of playing. What you described was more geared towards n00bs or newbies. I mean, to be honest with you, after playing a DK and a Night Lord, and even a Bishop. I didn't find it hard, at all. I Zakked on all 3 characters. My NL did the highest DPS on bosses, rarely did I die at Paps or Zaks, etc.

And yeah, the only way that I'd consider them decent is as if they have more than a couple 4th job characters, and they are proficient at using all of their characters, and can switch back and forth with ease. Nice-controls > DPS, always. Best way for a Hermit or NL is to get them to El Nath, all at the same starting point, see who gets to the top of the mountain and to Dead Mine first, without falling off the bridge/rope over and over, or at all, if anything. Ones with the best controls of their character will always get there first because they familiarized themselves with the elements of those maps and they are very familiarized with their own character.

Maplestory is easy to play, but pro techniques take a little bit of work to master. Such as using rush to avoid stun and seal at Zakum, without killing yourself on the body. Little tricks and secrets like that shows where normal players reach into the more skilled.
