NPC scammer of Old Foxtail? - Orit - 2008-12-08

It's not a quest, so to all you quest enthusiasts willing to pay 5 fame for another line in your Completed log: you haven't missed a thing. It's an interchange you can have with an NPC, but like Exchange Quests or Item Forging, it doesn't get into your log.

Hindsight has 20/20 vision. Of course once Chil Nam told me about helping the girl, I realized it was the Old Fox. I also recalled that the King Goblins warned me about the wiliness of the fox, and to not believe a word he says. And while I'm not Korean, I have read a few folktales, and knew of the foxes who appear as human. Unfortunately, my mind was in gallant MapleStory mode while I was actually walking on the mountain - you know, the mode that tells you to help any NPC asking for help.

About the typo - it's not like it's the first time Nexon messes up like that. So I paid it no mind. In fact, I pretty much guessed she wanted the fox tail - otherwise, why would she appear only once I had it in my posession? And I was willing to give it to her, for a proper reward. I figured I could always get another one.

Anyway, I think it would be nice if the strategywiki entry for the Old Fox quest included a line of warning about not talking to this "familiar lady".

Yeah, good idea. It's done.

Notice how theres no green dot on the map.

Heres another when you first talk to her. I didn't converse further because I didn't know when i would lose the Tail.

I'm glad someone posted something regarding this.
I usually use return-to-town scrolls after quest completion, but this time I walked back a few maps to do another quest at the time.

Little did I know.. I lost the fox tail, and I had to camp until another Old Fox respawned (some high level was hunting them).

I should have done this.

Thank you for adding this to the StrategyWiki for future questers Smile
