I'm not as into the competitive area anymore as I used to be, but I was always trying to predict what movesets and strategy each pokemon is carrying. Obviously, some are easier to predict than others. I might be overthinking it though, but I always try to deviate away from the standard movesets, or whatever Smogon / Serebii tries to suggest and mixing in my own stuff.
With some Mega Evolutions, it gives the same Pokemon more options, making them less predictable to carry the same standard movesets or the ones you see more commonly. Abilities, strategies, and movesets can change around the mega so you can't always expect them to Mega Evolve something, especially if the opponent has multiple pokemon that is capable of doing so. Some of them are just as deadly without mega evolving, one being Metagross. It could be seen as a gimmick and take some time, but if given a good amount of luck and support... almost anything can become good enough to catch someone off guard or sweep. I don't intentionally give my opponents enough time to setup, but sometimes rotten luck happens of being put to sleep and all that sort of stuff.
I think most of us have ran into a lot of things over the wifi battles, carrying stuff like gengar, scizor, kangaskhan, etc a good majority of the time... but at least for me always thinking they would mega evolve something, especially the Kanga... it caught me off guard when they did something entirely different from the typical sets. And you try to send in something else trying to stop it, perhaps just trying to baiting each other. A few players didn't carry a mega stone for their respective pokemon when switching into to trick, knockoff, magician, and scout for things in the middle of a battle.

You're not the first to say that! Someone else and a friend of mine said the wings resemble a Steel typing but I want it to be Fairy/Dragon. Or Dragon/Fairy. Whichever way seems most appropriate.
In designing this, I started with the head. Added Milotic style lashes for a more draconic look, turned its cheeks into a cloudy crown. Then I added swirls to the clouds, elongated its tail and crest and extended the wing feathers until they became too big for the cloud. Added white to its head and neck to balance color.
All done on regular copy paper (omg taboo) while bored in a watercolor class.

The next batch of CoroCoro information has been posted to Japanese forums and this batch showcases more information about the upcoming game Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire. This reveals Mega Altaria, who is Dragon/Fairy with Pixilate, Mega Lopunny who is Normal/Fighting with Scrappy and Mega Salamence with Aerilate. It also confirms that when you change your Pikachu's clothes for contests, it gets special moves. Pikachu Rock Star gets the move Comet Punch, Pikachu Ph.
