Dark scroll + locked item = ?
#1
Out of curiosity, is it possible to destroy a locked item with a dark scroll?

Naturally.

Why wouldn't it be?
It just prevents it from being dropped or traded. o_o

Cause they're meant to make it impossible for you to lose the item... What's the point of locking an item just to have a hacker break it with 30%s?

Why would you lock an item that's not done scrolling in the first place? D:

That's why you finish scrolling things before locking them.

Yes, of course it can still be broken. Locked doesn't make it invincible.

Yeah those are valid reasons, but probably the few that exist. Almost nobody owns a blue maple dana or pallete, lunchboxes are a lot easier to finish now, and 100% for helm dexes/60% helm ints actually drop now so a lot of the time a helm's worth finishing.

On the other hand if the item was not destroyed by dark scrolls, it would be a lot cheaper to scroll perfect items with white scrolls.

Don't think that finishing an item makes you safe. Unless you succeeded with every scroll, they can still use the 20% clean slate scroll to break it. Odds are an account thief would only do this if they specifically targeted you though. Your average one would just grab all they can and leave what they can't take.

why would a hacker waste time and 30%s just to break an untradable item? these people dont hack accounts out of pure evilness, they just want to take the money\items on it. my friends were hacked multiple times and none of them got any untradable item dropped\destroyed other than zhelm, and thats only because zhelms are npced for 500k (seriously, what is the point of this?)

The only case that it would happen would be if someone hated you (or your guild) in game for something you'd done or said (not very likely, unless you're in one of those guilds that holds boss maps or kill steals people alot). Or if they were jealous of your or your level (more likely).

The hacker could still use clean slate scrolls on a finished item to break it.

Maybe nexon will make locked items unscrollable in the future.

Thank you, it seems like a lot of people just jumped to conclusions without even trying, which was entirely not the point of this thread. I naturally believe that they can be destroyed, I just haven't heard of anyone testing the theory. If the answer is no, there could be a potentially game-breaking glitch here, and I'd like to know before I get to work forging my 3rd Arcglaive.

On second though, why would the item lock prevent the % of boom?

Somebody on Sleepywood did it quite a while ago and broke a locked item.

I already pre-thought of this so I took steps to prevent it:
http://www.southperry.net/forums/showthread.php?t=9948
All of my items (with the exception of my versalmas hat) are maxed on the slots. When this year's Versalmas hat comes out, I'm going to 100% it and lock it in case a hacker decides to play dumbass and clean slates my original Versal hat.

Good thing I'm not a Hero, so I don't have to worry about that kinda crap.

Ok, seriously, why would a person waste his own money breaking items when he can just take the extra money and transfer it out?
DrRusty Wrote:Horntail Necklace
I don't see any way you can possibly break this unless you're using a clean slate scroll on a HTP that has lost one of it's slots.

Good thing I took measures for this too. I used a White scroll when chaosing the second slot of my HTP to ENSURE that it doesn't fail and screw me over.

Anyways, why would a hacker waste 15~20m clean slating an item just to destroy it?
RDal Wrote:This sounds like the kind of job Harrison would take on...
Eh, if I had the money, I would. Right now though, I'm broke, and I still have to wait until Nexon unlocks my Purple AC before I try anything because if I get banned, all this is worthless.

(If you didn't know, I locked my +6 Purple AC onto my chara out of stupidity and now I ticketed Nexon to have my cape unlocked during the Next SC which is probably on April 9th.)

Yea, I'm probably not going to try anything until then. Also, I'm pretty sure that someone already tried it so no point. Though it'd be pretty funny if someone DCed every time they're supposed to destroy a locked item but when they relog the item is intact.

duh of course a locked item can break.

or else everyone wud lock their items and use white scrolls with 30% to make a billion perfect items.

come ppl, common sense. it only prevents item from being dropped, traded, sold.

locked items can be xferred thru bank of same login acct, unequipped, scrolled, broken, etc.
