Well generally the moon is going to be further away than the clouds So the moon shouldn't be visible.

yeah. also, the moon is a 3D sphere. if it appears like a crescent, it is only that the other part of the moon has been shadowed (not eliminated!), because the sunlight hasn't touched it.

instead, it looks like this moon has had a chunk bitten out of it.

Oh, and sorry for an unnecessary post, but in the SS, the pet duck looks like its being enticed by the wiggling of BF's lollipop......
