I'm already aware that Vista and Maplestory don't get along too well. But for the time being I'm on a PC with Vista. I know NOTHING about Vista, so here's my rather annoying issue:
Whenever I'm on screen with a bunch of other Maplers (like 20+) the screen flashes to black every second or so, and continues doing this until I leave the area. It also does this at Zakum whenever he used some form of attack. It's rather annoying and I couldn't play to my full potential. Also, if I'm just sitting in Henesys the background will kind of spazz out and remove some of the imagery (like houses and whatever.)
EDIT: Forgot to mention Vista will just outright crash MS whenever it feels like, forcing me to open up task manager and close MS.
Halp please.

Comp specs would be nice.
As well as whether or not you've upgraded to vista service pack 1.
Instructions:
1) open start menu
2) right click on "computer"
3) click on properties
4) you should see that the first section is called "Windows edition"
5) If the words "Vista Service pack 1" is found anywhere in that section, go to step 7. Else go to step 6.
6) Google search "vista service pack 1" and the second link should be the microsoft link to get SP 1. Or just click here: Vista SP 1 microsoft page link. Follow directions and yada yada. Make sure you restart after installing SP1. Note upgrade to SP 1 can take up to 3 hours.
7) If you already have SP 1 and the problem is occuring regardless please tell us the information under the "system" section. You can leave out the "rating" part.
8) Furthermore in the start menu, you should have the "Run" button you can click on. Click on it and type in "dxdiag" <- no quotes. Change the tab at the top to "Display" and tell us what's on the first entry: "Name: ~~~~"
We'll be able to better help you after receiving this info.

I've never had any problems with Vista + MS besides the Zak/HT disconnect glitch. I don't know why you're experiencing such weird problems.
Anything else suspicious that might be affecting MS? Have you tried playing in WM? Tried all the different graphic levels?
Something wrong with your graphics card? I remember a while back a driver update I installed ended up making my MS perform FAR worse (constant lag). When I rolled back to the previous driver, everything was fabulous again. That's probably irrelevant to your problem, but it's worth checking out. Maybe you even need to update it.
I dunno. It's hard to say knowing so little about the specifics.

Yeah, should have included specs as well. Here they are:
Processor: Intel Celeron dual core processor E1200
1.6GHz, 512 KB, L2 Cache, 800 MHz FSB
1 Gig of RAM
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
32-bit OS
For my display thing it says: Intel® 82945G Express Chipset Controller 0
I'm also running SP 1

im gonna point the finger at the processor :\ celerons are crap, and ive always had problems with computers using them.
But the real problem here is the RAM, vista is a RAM hog, and 1 gig is barely enoguh for vista alone. That, coupled with the fact that the intel graphics chips also use the system RAM for themselves. So you upgrade the RAM, you should be better off, but i can say for sure if it will fix the black screens. My Eee PC uses the same chip with XP tho, and it actually runs maple on high quality better than my other laptop with an nVidia card D:
btw, laptop or desktop? and what brand?

Your specs seem too low to run Vista, in my opinion. Of course, I'd always recommend XP. Stability is the best, anyways.

5)Right click on your "Intel® 82945G Express Chipset" that appears there... or something to that effect.

Oh my Darwin you fixed me. I love you, and I mean it in both a platonic and homosexual way. If you had a daughter I would take her out to a nice Italian dinner and I WOULD call her back. No more spazzy backgrounds or flashing screens <3

I'm quite glad to be of help. I got vista quite early before service pack 1 so playing MS was a pain. Especially when private servers came out and I decided to see what OdinMS was like. I wrote a huge article on how to fix almost every vista issue with MS on their forums. Unfortunately that's gone along with everything else
But yeah, I'll be around if anyone else needs help ^^
