Factorial Numbers
#1
Basically:
1 Symbol and 1 Slot = 1 Result (1)
2 Symbols and 2 Slots = 2 Results (2x1)
3 Symbols and 3 Slots = 6 Results (3x2x1)
4 Symbols and 4 Slots = 24 Results (4x3x2x1)
5 Symbols and 5 Slots = 120 Results (5x4x3x2x1)

That's if the characters/symbols can't be repeated. But if they CAN be repeated:

1 Symbol and 1 Slot = 1 Result (1)
2 Symbols and 2 Slots = 4 Results(2x2)
3 Symbols and 3 Slots = 27 Results(3x3x3)
4 Symbols and 4 Slots = 256 Results (4x4x4x4)
5 Symbols and 5 Slots = 3125 Results (5x5x5x5x5)

Right?Hurt

No it isn't, neither of those allow repeats.

First one would be 5P5 though.

First is permutations with removal of elements. The second isn't. So yeah, this looks right.
