Yay, back with this topic. I'm not here to ask a question I'll say it in one line:
LUK AFFECTS HOW MUCH EXPERIENCE YOU LOSE UPON DEATH
Now, to back up that statement, I, JUST NOW, suicided both my priest and F/P mage. Let's see the results:
Priest
Level 85
Luk 67+11
exp loss (exactly): 5.3%
F/P Mage
Level 82
Luk 9+16
exp loss (exactly): 6.98%

I think it's base luk that affects death 0_o
It used to include equips, but apparently it doesn't anymore...

If I remember correctly, magicians are the only class with luk-affected exp loss =/

Can't see SW, but the old formula was 5+20/LUK
Tested on Thief and matched my warrior values.
Obviously they changed something... :p it matches the Priest using base luk, but not the F/P mage's numbers.
e: got that thread up, it's the same 5+20/luk.

+1 LUK = ~-0.5-1% EXP loss? Wow, that is pretty good stuff if it works for non-LUK using classes.

It's an inverse proportion + 5%. The more points you add, the less EXP saved per point. Diminishing returns.

This only applies to mages (and possibly thieves, though they usually have plenty of LUK o_o). Pirates and Warriors lose 10% regardless of how much LUK they have, and Archers lose 7%.

I can't speak for pirates/bowmen but my Paladin only loses 9% and it has 5 luk.

7% (or very close to) is true for Bowman.

Oh damn, now you have me thinking it was only changed for bowmen, and it now uses base stats instead of total stats for everyone else.

I'll try to get on a non-lukless bowman and test it. No promises.
e: 4+2 luk = 120 exp lost (6.99%)
4 luk = 120 exp lost
5+2 luk = 113 exp lost (6.59%)
6+2 luk = 108 exp lost (6.29%)
2*4 = 8, 1.6*5 = 8, 1.33*6 = 8
Bowman formula: 5+8/LUK
I'm reasonably happy with this proof :p also that 2 luk = 0.7% less lost per death is pretty decent if you're training slowly (eg. 2%/hr) without charms that's 20 minutes per death.

Sweet.
Now if we can get it confirmed for all the other classes (thief pirate), I'll update the entry in the thread.

About thieves... You'll soon reach all the LUK rquired to not loose more than 5%.
However, I remember somebody said something about 50 LUK being the magic number there...
Maybe, for thieves, it's 0.1% per LUK. Would make sense, since it's our main stat.

Well, assuming the old EXP loss formula, 50 LUK:
5+20/50 = 5.4% lost.

Can you perform a similar test on non-lukless warrior? I lose 9% every death with 5 base luk (total 42). I have a Hero friend who loses 7% per death and I have no idea how much base luk she has, but apparently less total luk because she doesn't have a HTP.

It wouldn't matter, because of the fact that it is all based on base luk, not overall luk.
Also, did anyone try doing it with the "exp lost:Total exp" ratio, instead of percentage? It may be more accurate.
