What happened to the real culture of MapleStory ?
I thought of this when a LUK mage came to me asking if i have any cromi.. I had 2. So after selling him a MA 66 one for 500k. he asked for mage stuff.
That got me thinking.. after gach exclusive items came out(Coloured Worker Gloves, Adventure capes etc..) we rarely see a Normal LUK mages now.
really hard to see low-levels with thief/magician equipments except for bowmans and warrior. Usually we see people using maple weapons, batherobes, brown work gloves, yellow work gloves and stormcasters, zak helm(its easy to get nowadays) and even a HT pendant at 120.
I miss the old maple where the FM would be filled with
B> Dark calas ! @@@@@@ or
B> Red China set@@@@@@@@@@@

People seem geared towards higher numbers. It's understandable because leveling speed is based on these numbers. But I do wish for the old days where you could tell the class of a person at a glance without looking at their weapon.

The reason statless builds are so popular is because the defense stat is kinda useless. If the defense stat were retooled so that your weapon or magic defense actually had a visible effect on how much damage you take, then there would be less statless builds.

With the addition of maker skills, you might see a resurgence of class specific equips.
But yea, the effect of defence in this game is rather pathetic. As a warrior though, I've really no reason to not wear class equips.

Er, plenty of thieves wear top/bottom. Every single one of my characters uses class top/bottom/overalls, including my bandit (though it's a STR/DEX Pao set, which looks rather nubby ).
Mages...well, there's so many things that are broken with mages I don't know where to begin. They're poorly balanced with non-mages, poorly balanced between each class of mage, and poorly balanced between LUK and lukless builds. It's pretty sad.

I started out playing a normal DEX dit. Currently i'm 106, with 100 base DEX. Its real hard to see higher leveled players who actually add a whole lot to their secondary stat. Well, because of my DEX, i'm wearing a scrolled Dark Scorpio and a clean Red Pirate Pants. What i'm trying to say is that i'm probably one of the very few level 100+ who still wear high leveled equipment of their class, rather than bathrobes and the lot.
Maple is really getting off balance.

Well, i myself is a LUK-less priest. Feel regretful 1/4-ly because of the timeless weapons. But meh im lazy to train up till 100.

I still wear my equipment! The only reason I'm wearing a Requierre instead of a Bazura (even though I have a Bazura) is 'coz my new Requierre is scrolled for lots of delicious INT.
True, defense stat and LUK is virtually useless for mages. But my character is old, and when I used to train, I'd look forward to being able to wear the next equipments. I'd hold them in my inventory and stare at them longingly as I trained. It worked for me. And I'm not too worried about other people doing more damage than me. (Though I don't put in LUK anymore because there's no point, no new equipment for me anymore....)
It's no big deal, though. Some people play the game for damage and that's what's important to them. It's true that single-stat characters (with the exception of Bowmen and Warriors, really, 'coz Warriors need the accuracy) deal higher damage, and that makes training a lot easier especially at lower levels!

Haha, I've been poor my entire Mapling career. I've never cared much for mesos except in the ways of buying potions. Maybe that's why I've never had more than 20m. =)
Buut people have different aspects they love about this game, otherwise there wouldn't be such diversity in the community. Some people want the $, some the damage, some the levels, some the friends. It all evens out in the end, though sometimes people really have a way of trying to make other people feel inferior because of their decisions. Hehehe.

I like getting new gear every so often, so I tend not to buy common class stuff unless it's the only real option (earring and hat for example). If I could afford a Taru Spirit cape I'd trade in my pink cape right away, I'd like to wear a warrior-only str cape.
NX also leads toward people showing less class gear, a lot of people wear full NX outfits so you can't even tell by the weapon without clicking them >_<

I get to be an anachronism though. Yay for me being unique by using generic!
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.

I'm filled with DEX, and if I get to use AP resets, it's to get down to 4 STR, since I managed to screw up at the beginning :p
But the ammount of DEX I have is something I won't reset... My pirate set is what gives my character a "soul" :p

The higher your level, the lower damage you take, in addition... Maybe you can have that considered.
