GM BLOG The Battle of Crimsonwood Keep

http://maplestory.nexon.net/WZ.ASPX?PART...616&cat=26

Oh hell yeah.

Looking at that image you can't tell me this PQ will be low leveled. I'm geussing 80 ~ 200? That image alone just gave me chills!

"
Crimsonwood Keep.

It's beautiful, isn't it? And it's just going to get better and better.

Coming soon is the Crimsonwood Keep Party Quest. It's a pretty elaborate to-do that has been keeping the dev team running around like orange mushrooms on oh too much sugar (Just pause a second and get the mental image). The quest is near completion, but one big step remains: Playtesting.

In case you don't know, when we finish making something, we have to test it again and again. This helps us figure out any potential problems, as well as provide feedback on the updates. It's quite the mix of business and fun when your company tells you that you MUST play video games. :-)

So, NxProse just swung by and handed us all the briefing on Crimsonwood Keep. This helps us to be well versed in what to expect, so that the test goes smoothly. We took turns reading it, and I feel I can summarize this PQ in three words:

Expect. Big. Things.

In every way imaginable. This quest is complex, it furthers the storyline of MapleStory, it's challenging, it's fun, and there are measures to make sure that it is never exactly the same thing twice. We can't spoil all of the secrets of this quest (Where's the fun in that?), but we do want you to know how much fun it is going to be, as well how much work has gone into it. So, without further ado, here are some of the notes that have been scribbled across the PQ briefing:

"The only way out is up – and they better move fast, as the automatic defense system...will scroll up slowly..."

"...where –name removed- will explain everything."

"Due to the time limit, players will need to split up..."

"...The Test of Wit..."

"Players can observe this area and deduce who was behind this..."

Those just give you an idea of the air of mystery Crimsonwood has, as well as the dedication players will need to crack those same mysteries. In addition, we would like to tell you that you will need experienced Maplers of almost every job path to complete this quest. You will definitely want to contact your guild and buddies to get through this one. You may also wish to go reread some teasers that are scattered throughout the forums and game itself, to help you understand what's going on.

That's all for now, though. I'd write more, but they don't want me to mention how many bosses there are, the underwater chamber, or how much Jack Barricade plays into all of this. I guess I'll have to let you find out on your own. ;-D

Happy Mapling!"

Holy poop.

 GIANT IMAGE

Expect big things, lol.

Yeah, looks like a high-level PQ. I wouldn't be surprised if it's 120+ or something. xD

I hope Nexon's smart with the exp they give out here. Speaking BF which is a miniboss gives 3mill+ This PQ might give alot. I just don't want nexon to make it so every leecher tops leeching and takes over my PQ of doom-O Big Grin

Somthing to point out is that all the weapons that....thing, which I'm geussing is the thing Jack mentioned, well... There not attached.. Meaning they might be parts we have to kill to stop.. that thing?

wow, that looks very cool. Specially the part they say "you will need one of almost each job path" and I imagined a upscrolling jumpquest with spikes that 1hit kill rising from the floor. Something like that stage in donkey kong 1 where the saw is cutting the tree.

I.
Shat.
Bricks.

This is so epic, and look at the dark earthy colors in the background, I wonder if all of the inside of the keep is like that.

Well if that is true, I hope it's either easy, give retries, or at least only has to be traversed by a few people. I am a pretty bad jumper and there are people even worse than I am.

Zakum doesn't have anything on that statue.

But I am disappointed in how they're trying to fit a job class that didn't exist at the time of Crimsonwood Keep creation into it's storyline.

Underwater Chamber? ooooh Aqua Road II is coming >:3
I really wonder how they are gonna make the PQ so that we will need all classes... Sounds really interesting ^^

It would be unfair otherwise, wouldn't it?

Disappointed? The heck. Haha

I don't care for Pirates, but they're still a big part of MS and they should be included.

*excited about MS again*

Im disappointed to, unless they work it into the lore really well somehow, I agree pirates need to be a part of this too, but they just dont fit into the story the way it is right now.

Anyway, is that a new dagger in the statues bottom right hand? Shine

That sure is a funny looking gun handle and it sure is holing it weird. :f6:

Edit - @Above, it’s definitely a bow since you can see it carry on behind the sword and the arm.
