I've heard something about passing a few spell trace enhancements opens up more stat options.

I'm basically confused and afraid to experiment.

As far as I know, the only thing that changes is that you get a small bonus for the 4th passed scroll. For armor it's +1atk or matk.

As far as I can tell, that's just gibberish/mistranslated. Judging by the new trace/enhance UI in KMST, it looks like there's three buttons there; Scroll, Enhance, and something else.
