PA DrKs can dream, can't they?
#1
*Sigh*
Know what I would really love to see, and would make being a pure PA seem not quite as foolish as if often does? A high exp boss monster with insanely high defense (to the point that 20k damage is reduced to 3k or less) and mdef. Why?

Sacrifice -
Spear DrKs skip it or leave it unmaxed, unless they made their character a while back (when it was harder to train a spear DrK early on, and KB was a major issue)

Hybrids skip it in most cases, as they use Spear Crusher for bossing, and don't really need it where PA's train.

PAs max it. Always.

Big Grin

It would be nice to be the only job able to bypass a monster's defence untouched Big Grin

Or maybe make sacri break through super wdef up...that would be nice too...

Bstep and assaulter for the win.

Boy, Shadow Shifter or our crazy Avoid would have to kick in if we want to live after Assaultering that boss, unless it does weak damage. And Meso Explosion ignores it too?

But yes, more power to the outcasts!

I dunno, i figured it'd be a slim boss.

Meso explosion ignores w.def? News to me.

Oh look, it's a use for Shadow Meso. LOL.

Phoenix, Frostprey, Snipe, and I believe Heaven's Hammer ignore wdef as well.

Eh, all attacks posted seem to be either
-On rare/hard to train classes (more power to em, better training spots are needed, as is more class diversity)
-Rarely included in skill builds
-Something that wouldn't make or break a class at a monster/boss

The list so far is
Sacrifice
Assaulter
Bstep
Meso Explosion?
Shadow Meso
Phoenix
Frostprey
Snipe
Heaven's Hammer

Poison/web immunity would be a duh...

Still seems like PAs, Shads, "some" NLs, and MMs would get the best deal out of this...

Well to be honest, a Paladin can only use HH every 70 seconds, so it wouldn't be realistic for them to try. And a BM would just be sitting there watching their Phoenix attack, not realistic either. MM, a bit better I guess, they have Frostprey plus they can use Snipe for 10k/s.

Then you have the PA DrKs, NLs with Meso, and Shadowers. Not a bad haul.

Damage would have to be low if PA DrKs wanted to use zerk or apples though -
Sacrifice + Zerk + Apple = hey look, I have 1 HP O.o

Assaulter doesn't ignore defense last I looked, it just cuts the effect by 90%. Maybe they changed that.

If it dispelled alot then that would probably knock out NL/Shadowers-
I mean like 4x that of Geist Rog.
Like every 10 seconds.

I did this investigation a long time ago. I concluded that it did ignore weapon defense.

All summons ignore weapon defense, as far as I know. My octopus does the same damage to Newties as it does to Snails, while my Burst Fire gets raped by half.

Anyway, the biggest losers at such a boss would be classes with low base damages. Warriors and Mages would come out on top.

Oh crap. That would mean a new flaw for the burner build since a gunslingers summons would help much much more. o_o

Well, of course max Gaviota would be better than max Flamethrower on any boss*. It's a question of, do I care about like 300 extra DPS or would I rather have a strong, fast, 6 target mob skill that I can use in midair without a Battleship and can potentially speed up my mobbing even once I max Torpedo?

*Assuming the boss does not have a lot of hittable parts

Which rarely if ever happens.
hmm...liking this idea more and more by the second...

not high magic def. low magic def and holy resistance =D (or just lightning/poison weak(arch mages use CL and paralyze at bosses fight?))

But only if you're above the monster's level, no?

If you're below the monster's level, the physical formula seems to reduce damage by 1% each level regardless what defense the monster has. I've heard the magic formula is different (working as a percent of the monster's defense?) never tested it though.
