Buying Mesos

I've been hearing it from when the gold farmers first started. Back then, there were many compelling reasons to not buy mesos, but the reason that stood out the most was that it would unbalance the economy, because you weren't really able to buy anything in the game.

Fast foward two years.

We now have gold meso bags, the very thing Nexon and Wizet swore would never happen back when the game started. Now the only plausible reason not to buy mesos from gold farmers is that they hack to get their mesos. Supposing there was a site that paid all its "gold farmers" to farm mesos legitly. Would it be wrong to buy mesos from them?

Or what if it's not a stranger? What if a friend quits and after he sells all his equips/etc. for mesos, he sells the mesos to you? Would that make it any different?

It's only illegal now because Nexon doesn't get their money. Or at least not directly.

As far as I'm concerned, I say it's no different from buying mesos from Nexon, unless as you said the mesos are hacked.

true in the instance described it is against the TOS only cause nexon's not getting their kickbacks but if its your friend that you know from school or something and you give him cash for the mesos and such who's witness to any of it? sure theres the transfer logs of the transaction (the trade in game) but it could just be that hes giving away his mesos to you for nothing... so if no one reports that you paid him the money no one is the wiser

reguardless of whether or not you can get banned for it i still think its ethically wrong but then again i think using x2 and meso bags are ethically wrong...

Even gachapon will have a hard time giving you that kind of payout, and it's garaunteed. When one of my friends quit, he sold all of his gear in the MTS, then sold all the NX for money. It was a sweet deal. For a while, instead of buying NX cards, I bought from him instead. He sold me 20k for $15.

The only reason Nexon has the mesos bags is to tempt people to buy them instead of mesos online. It kinda shows how little control they have over the mesos farmers.

If they were smart they would try to shut down their sites and not this one since the meso farmers actually make them lose money >_>

Heh, I wouldn't say that logic can really apply to a situation where theres hackers running amok everywhere, and 99% of those sites are known to be from hackers. More of a "better-safe-than-sorry" in this case, if you dont mind funding the hackers and giving them incentive then thats your prerogative, everyone has different opinions on the matter, but really, I doubt theres many (if any) legit gold farming sites out there.

The thing is, since fansites aren't making money, and meso sites are, the meso sites will either close down and spring up somewhere else (brand name recognition is nil to non-existent), or if they have enough money, ignore the DMCA. Then they go to court or Nexon chickens out.

Also, many meso sites are based outside of the US, where the DMCA doesn't apply (like The Pirate Bay).

There isn't and never will be. Some pretend that they do to fool especially naive/gullible people, but in reality there isn't a single one. Getting mesos legitly isn't nearly as profitable, and in that kind of business that is all that is important.

Hacked items/meso is just as much against the rules as it has always been, so yes, that would be wrong.

Obtaining them from any legitimate source such as a friend wouldn't be wrong, of course.

Buisness stances change as the needs of the company do as well, the cash shop does provide advantages now, but thats gotten them a lot more money, I cant blame them, its a very smart move. The game is still free to enjoy, and if you're resistant and everything, you can equal out to many of the Cash shop using players as well.

Also; Meso bags are a needed precaution against meso selling web sites, does it get rid of them? No. But its easy for nexon and if it even puts a small dent in the meso selling site's profits, its better for the game.

Exp gach isnt a huge advantage, as its quite expensive to level using it, and you can PQ from 10-51 easily for free, its nothing that major, not many people even use it.

Buying from Meso Sites is Illegit. It's against the TOS, and counts as Illegit to me.

If you want to buy mesos, buy them from Cash Shop, not a hacker's website.

You might as well just sell NX for mesos then buy from websites. At least the money didn't come from Meso Farmers. (Or at least that you know of)

lolololololo.... remember when they said they would NEVER allow double experience cards because they felt that it would force the players to buy those cards to keep up with the leveling rates? And that of course they "care about the customers" more than their profit.................

Well since it's a 3rd party transcation it's wrong in the sence that Nexon said they can ban you for it and they don't want you doing it. So if they catch you then you risk your account. Obviously if it's a friend there are ways to ensure you don't get caught by Nexon, but if you mean it's wrong as it ethicly wrong to violate rules that Nexon came up with then that's a different question completely (but I don't think you mean that).
