I thought this too for a long time but Chaos Queen & Pierre both had multiple equip drops when we killed her on... I think it was 6x drop? Might've been just dumb luck though...

Regardless, I've been going by the assumption that it does, ever since.

EDIT: Furthermore, Gollux also tends to drop considerably more potions, equips, and coins upon killing when on a high drop rate. The drops usually spread out to below the steps.

Grats man. very nice milestone here. Moreover, for the drop rate on chests and stuff.., 'tis a superstition that differs by personal perspective (I still believe drop rates do some work on chests whether it's true or not). I secretly use it in our team's runs, and we have gotten myriad of drops. Coincidence? Maybe. But until I stop using my drop rate stuff and have enough sample size to figure out the verdict, we will never know.

I got 3 pants from Pierre from 1 run on 1x.
And if drop rates worked you would be getting 5 equips ea time, and the meso bags would be affected by 2x events.

I also get drops spread out to below steps on Gollux with just wolf summoned.

Yup, drop multipliers do nothing for reactors (Queen/Pierre boxes, Gollux heart, etc). I reported it as a bug on the Nexon forums a while ago but I think it just got ignored and is now lost in the void. Still no idea if it is intentional or not.
