Do you Name your Pokemon?

I grew up on the first season of the show before I started playing the games with Crystal, so it seemed weird to have them nick-named anything.
I kinda wanna name my team when I get X/Y, but am not yet sure what kind of names I'm going to go with.

What kind of names do you give them?

I very rarely do but if i do they end up being named after my friends.

MY POKEMON ARE PERFECT GENETIC CREATURES CREATED FROM THE LABS OF O MIGHT POKEMON SHOWDOWN.

THEY DO NOT NEED NAMES. THEY CANNOT THINK. THEY CANNOT BREATHE. THEY ONLY BATTLE. WHY SHOULD I ENCUMBER THEM WITH PITIFUL NAMES?

Only if it's a pokemon I really like. For example, Pumpkaboo is my bish, so the first Super-Sized one I caught, I called Spooks :3
And when I manage to hatch a Super Size Shiny Pumpkaboo, I shall call that one Spooks too, and it shall be my squishy.

And then i'll throw an Eviolite on it and use it in battles, because nearly 400 defense is wow.

Nope, I don't nickname Pokemon. It feels unnatural to me in a sense, and if I wind up with a nicknamed Pokemon from the GTS, I generally breed it for a no-named one. I tend to breed anyway as I prefer Pokemon to be under my own ID, but sometimes that can't be the case (such as exclusives).

I'm silly and name my entire team after my original characters, usually because when I start a new game, I go with a theme (like naming my player after a main character of mine and his/her pokemon being the companions/friends).

Makes the game more fun to me, and it gives me a closer connection to my virtual pixelcreatures.

The only reason I ever gave a Pokemon a nickname, was because I didn't like how names were all capitalized.

"What will EMPOLEON do?"
"EMPOLEON used Surf!" (moves were uncapitalized by Generation 4, IIRC)

Always bugged me. The change in Generation 5 was very welcome.

But for capitalization, I tried un-capitalizing things and found it to be just as disjointed as leaving it as-is.

I don't, mostly because I can't find really good names, and I'm bad at naming in general. I dont want some generic nickname, but im not good at coming up with original ones.

I didn't start naming them until gen 5 which then became a lot of fun and thus carried onto gen 6.

I can't bring myself to do such a thing.

I'm good at naming stuff, so I do. Right now, I have:

I tend to do that all the time, and mainly base it all off numbers.
Ex:My Greninja is known as "Hex" because it's the sixth water starter, and my Empoleon is known as "Quattro" (or Quattor, I'm not sure...) because it's the forth.

Most of my pokes get named with stuff i'd name a pet.
My Meowstic is named after one of my cats for example.
Sometimes i also name them after characters, like my torchic JoJo who is named after the character Jonathan Joestar.

I didn't initially, until I started playing Nuzlocke'd rom hacks with a friend. (One of the unofficial rules for Nuzlocke is to nick name your pokemon.)
I name my starter after said friend(I've yet to get a female @12.5/87.5 rates), and others after things they relate to, or I like.

Example; I love using Crobat(no one likes his lesser evos ), so I named mine Korro/a since I think that's how they'd say the first half of their names. I don't watch the anime, so I don't know/care of what they officially say.
I named my Goomy Sno, since it's white like snow.. and accidentally pressed enter after backspacing an r when naming him Snot. I like it though. xD

I've never nicknamed my Pokemon.

Their actual names are better than anything I could come up with, and it's awkward naming them something they may not even "fit" after evolving.

I named my spheal larry jr after my jr seal familiar in maple but thats about it.
