Pacific Rim (Now out!)

5/20/2013: Added new trailer that came out a few days ago.

Original trailer:

Little easter egg: Listen carefully for a certain female robot voice. Once you find it, go make a cake.

Giant robots (called Jaegers in the movie) vs Godzilla-like creatures (Kaijus. DOH HO HO). I don't care how terrible it may be, I'll be watching it.

The people even released stats for each mecha. Surprising to say, Japan's mecha sucks in comparison to the rest.

Australia (Striker Eureka)
 Spoiler

America (Gypsy Danger)
 Spoiler

Japan (Coyote Tango)
 Spoiler

Russia (Cherno Alpha)
 Spoiler

China (Crinsom Typhoon)

I dont think it's going to be bad. Pre-screens have had good reception and , well, who WOULDN'T want to see a movie with giants robots kicking giant monsters' asses?

I think the Japanese robot is supposed to be an original older model and the australian one is the newest one, hence the significant difference between battle stats. Australia is probably going to be pwned in the first couple of minutes in the movie so that they can build an "impossible" mission. Also think the Japanese robot is long ranged artillery, but then you'd think it's power would be stronger o-o

I guess you're right.
Since he's just the Director and Producer maybe it won't be that bad. Maybe...

I haven't watched the movie yet, but judging by it's 57% at Metacritic, 65% on RottenTomatoes, and B+ on the Onion AV Club, I'm not really sure how the movie was butchered. Mind explaining to me? Or so you mean in comparison to the short film it was based off of on Youtube, which I can't even watch it due to being blocked due to "copyright grounds".

The last part.
It almost had nothing to do with the short film (which is based) and the production was horrible.
I'm a big fan of horror/thriller/suspense movies. So it's more personal than anything.

10 bucks says the American one is the main focus and saves the day.
BECAUSE AMERICA, YEAH.

Graphics look nice, monsters look nice. Plot seems pretty generic.
It's like the Transformers films with bigger robots.

Seeing the movie only had a $15 million budget, I'm surprised it made so much at all.

HANG ON, he was executive producer for both Puss in Boots and Kung Fu Panda 2?! I hate to say it, but I'm going to retract all doubts I have about him. He's definitely no Uwe Boll or M. Night Shamalymadingdong as you made it sound.

I'm not saying he's bad.
Devil's Backbone is one of the finest movies I've ever seen.
It's just that Mama's was one of my biggest letdown ever in the movies.

Well it is Pacific Rim, so one would assume the UK doesn't need one. Though i don't know why there isn't a canadian one. But then again, there isn't one for Mexico or the entirety of South America either, so there may be more eventually or the countries could have been raped by giant monsters and couldn't afford to build one o_O

I just finished watching Evangelion for the first time, like 1 week ago (Yea, I was not interested on it before ._.) and now I can't help to think about it whenever I see this movie. It actually looks decent.

I don't know why, but just thinking the idea of Mexico making their own Giant Robot, makes me laugh. XD
(I mean no harm, I'm actually Mexican)

@Below: Fueled with Maseca :3

I love how Japan doesn't have a japanese name, but Coyote tango.

Mexico making their own giant robot would be... so odd. Knowing our goverment they would make one with mustache.
