Too much boss talks
#1
I thought about it recently.

Recently, nexon talk about the boss in general too much. Do you think that they will give us soon the Area boss Third batch and Fourth batch?

Eh maybe, but the boss talks is more because they're telling us about what is going to be in the Keep, or at least hinting at it. And we've been wondering that ever since they first hinted at a boss behind the gate...

Yea, But lately NXprose talked about boss in general and how much he loves the boss...

I also like bosses, a lot.

I've been talking with some friends about an idea to make a game that's only like a boss rush, with some creative puzzles and stuff like that.

I just hope that whatever boss comes out in the Keep won't be enslaved by high level guilds that treat this game like a cyber-business.

I was hoping for the Mu Lung boss rush PQ =O
Maybe we'll get that with all this talk of bosses. >.>

I just noticed that NxProse updated the CWK Thread...sorry if its old and been posted already...

"Ok, so while this isn't a direct update with pics, etc, I have a few minutes to talk a little. So, consider this an extended commentary on bosses.

Now, MapleStory has a wide, wide range of bosses. As a gamer myself, I always thought that several boss fights stood out:

1) 3rd Job Advancement Dark Side Fight

2) Papulatus

3) Black Crow

4) Horntail

And let me confess, I LOVE boss fights. Part of the reason why the Evil Dead map in the Phantom Forest spawns both Headless Horseman and Bigfoot is because it's there as a sort of personal challenge. No quests, or anything, just a basic challenge of "Can I do this?"

The last game I played had some rather interesting bosses, but I think the best boss fights are ones where you have to constantly adapt to only only the boss, but other factors. Mega Man 3 is my favorite out of the series, due to the challenge variety/stage layout of the bosses in Wily's Fortress. Shinobi 3, the stage prior to the last boss is one of pure platforming, where the stage itself is your enemy. Stuff like that stays with you years later.

So when seeing speculation about just what is behind the gate at the apex of Crimsonwood Mountain, I've read plenty of comments that say "Can you just give the Geist Balrog more attack/HP?" Sure, we could, but you guys deserve more. In fact, waaaay back when we first tested the Amorian Challenge, he was a lot stronger (close to a one-hit KO), but with all of his skills intact. Too hard. Even for an Onyx Apple. So we tweaked it a bit so it'd be a lot more fun, while still challenging. Because in the end, that's really what its about. Of course, since then, quite a few of you have leveled substantially, so we can show a great deal less mercy.

That said, enjoy the holiday events and Magatia, and get ready for 2009. We're gonna have some fun."

From the sounds of that, I dont look forward to it much...I can see it being terrible for MM...if it is anything like BF is for MM then forget about it. Knowing what Nexon thinks is "fun", it is likely to be terrible.Tongue

Oh and Let me confess...As a rule I HATE boss fights. lol

edit...duno how I missed Sparky242's thread...Rolleyes

The keep is supposed to be a place that all players would want to train at, since the lore already states that all the masters of the classes trained there. Part I was horrendous for training except firebrands for I/Ls, typhons for 80-10x mobbers, and windraiders for 7x mobbers.

I'm expecting a lot out of the monsters in this place. Enough to replace skelegons and newties. Maybe even a high level goby like map.

BUT, we have to have more bosses to do that. So we can't get it unless we get the 3rd and 4th batch and some new areas?

We'll get them soon either way. They're minor updates compared to other ones on the horizon.

NXProse's recent comment about bossing was build-up for Crimsonwood Keep Part II's 4 simulataneous bosses fight, it's even been implicitly stated. Not quite a sign of Area Bosses as it really wasn't the topic he was trying to grab at, but Area Bosses are a definite to come eventually anyways.

Lets see;

Firebrands for I/Ls
Windraiders for 7xers
Typhons for 8x-11x people (yes 11x, I know quite a few people who trained there in 11x)
Crimson Guardians are a fun change of pace for some people, I swing by there sometimes.
Bigfoot is great for paladins in 13x, and new bowmasters and such, some people I know train exclusively on him.
More HH spawns are always fun and I know people who train on those as well
Not for exp, but low levels short on mesos can go to leprichauns to train for cash

seems like plenty of training areas to me, just none that target you directly, so it doesnt seem like anything.

Thats more training areas than Showa brought us, and people cried for that for the longest time ...

2 people hating boss fights = everyone hates boss fights.

On top of that, it isn't hard at all to fight bosses, quite fun indeed.

Forgot CGs, but i'm not talking about the forest... Rolleyes

Leps are still bugged, remember?

Typhons are good for 11x too eh? Didn't know that. o.o

Even firebrands, which i originally referred to, isn't even visited/trained at that often as far as i know. If they are it's for cordons/AMs trying to make money solo, which gets out shined by selling leech anyway.

I remember in one of Prose's Q&A's asking if mages would be useful in Part II since they were raped in part I. Prose said something about them being useful. Big Grin

Solo, they're better than gobies and newties for me... They're a break-even-at-best type of monster in terms of meso, though.

'Bring it on!', Nexon. I've killed most bosses in the game, excluding Anego, Grandpa Boss, and Horntail. More bosses are better, imo.
