Checksum is a system by which a computer can verify the contents of a file against a known record, ensuring that the contents are correct and undamaged. A bad checksum error results when the file fails this check, meaning that some part of the data no longer corresponds to the original. If your data fails a checksum verification, it usually means that you need to replace it from a backup or otherwise reconstruct the affected file.

I bet what Nexon does is when they're testing a patch they put it up but use a different CRC32 table to generate the key, and then they patch their own games to test it out before using the real CRC to release it to the public.

In vanilla boring terms, will we receive a notice when the public one goes live?

Doubtful. Eos; patch checking algorithm doesn't look at the CRC I don't think

Bad CRC usually means that the file is damaged, or has been tampered with. That, or somebody is -really- trying to keep you from meddling around in their stuff.

though, Marksman Bryan sums it up pretty nicely anyway
