Ah, the controversial issues which seems to pull the readers into one direction, but into a completely different path the next minute. This is where we will talk the Death Penalty and whether us as the U.S. citizens should let it be as it is, or stop it in its tracks [If we had the power to...].
My option is to continue the Death Penalty. There are humans are there where their minds are corrupted and poisoned to the point where they cannot be helped anymore by us humans and will not look help religiously or mentally. A famous quote is 'Kill 1, Save 1000.'
If we were to save these people that have committed a harsh punishment, do we really expect to save them from their miseries and troubles? Or should we just lock them in a cell and hope what is best for them?
People, on the contrary, look at it in a different way. One famous argument that they would pull out is: 'If we were to kill humans, we're as same as them.' Not necessarily true. We are brining justice in humanity, separating those who are corrupt, as of those who are innocent. People must understand that without harsh punishments and discipline, the world will be corrupt.
What do you think?

Shoot 'em all and let God sort them out.
The main concerns about the Death Penalty are it's inhumane and the possibility of convicting an innocent. That being said, I don't understand how inhumane can only represent the state of being uncompassionate and unkind, when humanity is represented by everything, positive and negative, of human kind. The conviction of an innocent person is a fault questionable in the methods used to convict them. Ideally, this would never happen, but ideally, we wouldn't have a need for the Death Penalty.
Some people just feel that locking a man up for the rest of his life is a better choice, and supposedly more "humane". Which isn't a bad idea, in principle. If they're locked up in prison, they can't hurt anyone anymore. At least, anyone who isn't in prison. Prison's purpose is to deter crime though, and the Death Penalty is a greater extreme of this. If prison ain't working, bust out a bigger gun.

Death penalty should punish rapists and murderers. It would clean up the jails and make it a safer place

That's true, but think of it this way....if one of your family members were killed in cold blood, WOULDN'T u want the person to die? I sure as hell would, jail wouldn't be an option, it's either kill them or I'LL KILL THEM..screw what the other parts of the world think about us & our way of handling this type of situation, b/c certain parts of the world handle this WAY harsher then we do. I say kill the person(s) the EXACT same way they killed our loved ones.

Have you ever had one of your family members killed before?

I will never support the death penalty, or any other government policy that kills people.
On the other hand, I think suicide should be available to any prisoner serving multiple life sentences.
Even if the justice system was 100% accurate in handing out convictions (which it is not, especially in sexual offender cases) I wouldn't support it. I just don't think lives should be in the hands of the authorities.

Yes I have..6 years ago. But none the less I stand by what I believe, If a person decides to take a life(WITH IT NOT BEING OF SELF-DEFENSE or of a legit nature(i.e. finding the person who killed your loved one etc.)) then he/she should have their life taken.

And that ideology is the source of many many problems in this world. I don't have the right to decide the fate of another human being. I am not that murderer, I am much more better than that.

So what you're trying to say is that we should just leave this people alone and put them in jail? What will that do? It is nearly impossible to change these types of people.

And if anyone loves them, they can immediately come back and kill you?
At least that's fair...

Then they will stay in jail for the rest of their lives because they are a threat to the rest of society. There is absolutely no reason to have the death penalty except either to save money that goes into prison funding (because we all know we can put a price tag on a human being), or to fulfill an immoral abhorrent cycle of retribution. People are incarcerated so that they're taken off the streets and have a chance to change themselves; that's why prisons exist in the western world. The States have released dozens of innocent people from death row literally hours, days, and weeks before their execution; who's to say how many innocent people have been executed because of circumstantial evidence or lack of evidence to the contrary?

You have to understand that there are others that look up to these people and say: 'Even if I kill a hundred of innocent human beings, I'll still live.' With the Death Penalty, we are able to bring discipline to those and stop those who even think of killing others.

There is absolutely no correlation at all between states and countries that enforce capital punishment and low homicide rates. Countries that enforce capital punishment tend to have higher homicide rates. Capital punishment can be a cause rather than a deterrent for mentally unstable would-be murderers.

Besides, what about those people who are innocent?
My dad told me a story of 4 guys convicted of being rapists gangbangers.
3 of them got death penalty, one of them got jail for life.
They kept a sample of evidence from the scene just in case though.
30 years later, they developed DNA science poweful enough to prove that none of them were guilty of the crime.
3 innocent men lost their lives.

I believe it actually costs more to execute a person than it does to keep them in jail for life.[/COLOR]

I'm surprised no one mentioned Deathnote here.
Anyways, what about the people who want to die? You've heard stories of people who do horrible things and then commit suicide afterwards (Virginia Tech, suicide bombers, yada yada). Jail for life is a much better punishment for them.
