One of the best games at least for me IMO.
It's hard for me to say a top 10 or something like that because there are so many games that I really like.
But if someone ask me about my favorite games, Megaman X is one of the firsts that I can think of.

Pretty much what polantaris said but I wouldn't label it as hard but challenging.
Once you learn the patterns and how to avoid them it's pretty simple (not easy) to avoid, and on top of that you have to be 100% focused the whole time. That's what makes him really challenging.
