What kind of damage range would it take

For cannon spike to out damage cannon bazooka? I'm getting to the point where i cap with bazooka and i wanted to know when it would be better to not use it for anything other than range purposes.

Pre and post nerf would be much appreciated, since i realize bazooka is better than spike in every way post-buff.
