The Rulers Or Ruled...?

Thankfully, America isn't a monarchy where we depend all the power on a king or queen, but what if we were? Or what if we were free to live whatever we'd like?

John Locke, a philosopher, thought that without the ruled, there would be no ruler. The people, therefore, must unite and be strong. (WITH NO RULER)

On the contrary, Thomas Hobbes's opinion (who was also a philosopher) was that if humans were to live in the state of nature (Free to do whatever you want), then two humans (of course) will have a common interest or goal, therefore, they will become enemies.

What do you think and why?

Although I am a Christian, I disagree with Hobbes's view on rulership. To say that humans are unperfect is true, but to say that we must be ruled by the unperfect is horrifying. We shouldn't be able to rely on man, but God, for the perfect rulership, while we can place several men (or one man) to interpret God's will.

I'm a realist and an evolutionist. I have no problem with your beliefs or the beliefs of anybody else. I don't mean any offence to anybody with whatever I say in this or any other post.

If we were free living to do whatever we want, that would be the end of us. Since we became smart enough to know we're different from the other animals, since we developed language, we've been on a downward spiral. It's completely stopped human evolution and actually helped the evolution of every anti-human organism. We've wiped out billions of species and we're killing the planet.

All of it is because we have leaders. But if we didn't have leaders, ever, we would be worse off than we are now. People disagree on things, cultures disagree on things. Without international competition we would have much less advancement in science, and many other areas. If we didn't have leaders then I have no idea how people would all work together in such large groups (countries) to keep things running smoothly (...I guess things run smoothly most of the time).

As for J. Locke, IMO he's wrong. Even when there's people who don't want a leader, somebody wants to lead. That's how the human mind works.

T. Hobbes' statement is kind of useless, of course people are going to become enemies, with or without a leader that happens (War, much?).

Nobody is perfect, we've just found a niche and I for one think we should stay in it.
