What does diligence actually work on?

First time I hear that mastery is about book chances.
Always thought it was the chance of getting double profession exp for harvesting, refining or crafting.

The mastery is referring to the mastery EXP you acquire from the items you craft, refine or harvest.
Sometimes when I crafted rings, I acquired double the mastery.

I don't know what a special scroll is but I assume they mean the Eqp. Enhancement & Potential scroll.

All personality traits are good except for Empathy:

Ambition adds an increase in PvP damage and percentage of the defense from a monster you ignore, decreases the death EXP loss;
Insight gives you the ability to show the hidden potential of an item by using a free magnifying glass;
Willpower adds an increase in HP, physical and magic defense and resistance to abnormal status effects

Everyone knows Double Mastery means double the rate of passing a book. So for 20% chance you have the chance of passing both book 20 AND 30. OP.

Speak for yourself. As a warrior, I've more than doubled my MP with the 2000 MP added by Empathy.

I see Empathy being helpful for people who HP washed, but nowadays? IMO, it's a minimal boost.

Empathy helped me out a ton on my Dark Knight, at 200 I had under 2.5k MP with buffs on, and with Dark Impale draining 50 MP a cast it ran out way too quickly =/ Diligence is awesome for 10/30% scrolling and using to max other traits.

Just to reconfirm, the special scrolls are only the enhancement/potential scrolls?
I was thinking that the regular scrolls were actually scrolls that didn't have the note that it would work for Vega scrolls (i.e dark scrolls/etc wouldn't work)

Is there any evidence (either data/report from nexon that confirms either)

chaos, clean slate, etc count as special scrolls as well. Locked/Danny posted the list somewhere but if you suspect it to be special, it probably is.

This saddens me. Greatly. I was leveling my diligence for the purpose of having 60% pinks instead of 50%...

Small sample, but all I got:
9 slots: 31 20% scrolls. Very close to a 30% success rate, so my guess is 10%+ (additive). To avoid confusion, I have max dilligence.

35 10% scrolls to fill 9 slots here, maxed too.
