I'll try MS2, but I probably won't enjoy it since I'm accustomed to MS being 2D.

I'll play it, I don't expect it to feel exactly like MapleStory, since that is the whole point of a sequel.

A maplestory that isn't a 2d sidescroller loses the thing that interested me about maple in the first place.

There's only two reasons why I'll try out Maplestory 2.

There's no real reason -not- to try it out as long as my puny laptop can take it.
As others have voiced though, I'm skeptical as to any 3D game's ability to create the same awe that Maplestory created in me when I first played it.
It's kinda sad, but I love all the pretty pictures in Maplestory.

From what little can be told from the one screenshot we have, MS2 looks to try to keep the feel of the original as far as the environment goes, but I really hope the top-down perspective isn't that pronounced in the final release.
The three playable characters in the screen are hardly distinguishable thanks to that point of view.

Not exactly a huge leap. They still look sprites, not true 3D models, this is just 2.5D at best.

Never saw any ss about it, but I'll give it a try- might as well considering I wasted (I feel bitter-sweet about using the word 'wasted') the last few years playing the failure GMS is.

I actually prefer the 2.5D approach when it comes to Maple, to be honest.

There's a long list of franchises that just went to pomegranate when converting to 3D, and a lot of them failed simply because it's exceedingly difficult to create the same look and feel of a sprite-based universe in one that exclusively employs 3D models.

I'd just give it a chance, though i don't have a lot of hope on it.
Unless all the good storylines, and all the other things that should've been implemented in MSI are going to be saved for MSII. :|
