I think there's an option that's like "outline/image/something softening" which causes the anti-alias effect, but my version of Photoshop is from 2002 so it may or may not still be the case.

Work around try using the eraser in block mode. Click at one spot and hold shift while clicking another spot. This will erase a line between the two locations. You can draw a triangle that way.

Thanks for the tip, XTOTHEL. It's a lot less clunky than I first thought, but I tend to work mostly with the pen tool so I'd still like to find out what's causing my selected areas to become anti aliased upon deletion.
Devil, could you show me where the checkbox is? I'm not sure which one you're referring to, and I'm not sure if I've already unchecked it. ):

so I wake up in the morning feeling like p.diddy and opened up photoshop...
so when you use the pen tool to make the triangle, right click on the path and select "make selection", then a panel pops up, uncheck "anti-aliased" and done.

OH MY GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE I MISSED THAT.
I just press ok whenever it shows up, something I learned to do by habit because there was so much about Photoshop I didn't understand when I first started using it. Guess that habit came back to bite me in the rear.
Thank you sir.
