The point of life?

What is the point of life for you? I know it's different for everybody. I'll just list the reason for people I see around me and why they live.


My mom:
The point of life for her is to work, work and work, because she believes that by working hard, you'll always get something good in return, e.g: if she studies until 2am every night she'll pass the CGA. She is always busy, because she says that if i do the same thing twice as fast than others, that means i live twice the life as the other people. She wants to accomplish as many thing as possible in her life time (mainly house chores, if there is no house chores to do around, she'll think of something to do, like reorganizing the furnitures in the house.) Whenever she sees someone else doing something unproductive: e.g playing, she'll just tell that person you just wasted ___ minutes of your life.


My Dad:
The point of life for him is to be better than other people. Although our family is poor, my dad bought a million dollar house with 600k mortgage on it, he also have a brand new BMW, despite that he barely can cover the fees for the mortgage. Outside of the house, he's quite generous, gives big tips to waiters in restaurants. In the house, he tries to save every penny he can, he'll get frustrated when a light is on while no one is using that room. He is well respected among his friends because he has better stuff than them. He is always nice to everybody (except his son and wife)


One of my best friend:
The point of life for him is to advertise a religion called Christian. Because that he is deeply believed in this religion, he thinks advertising it will grant him eternal happiness after his death. He also wants to do something remarkable in his life, like changing the world. He obeys the bible, and live his life like the bible. He believes that he is superior than all other non-Christian people, because he has gotten the power from god.

Me:
The point of life for me is to be happy through out all my life. I know life is limited, I'm not going to do work though out my entire life and don't have anytime to have fun. Of course, i'm going to graduate and get into a good university, but i'll only work for the amount of money that's enough for my family and to have fun.

I view life as a huge game, with less room for error. The Game Over screen, of course, is when life ends in whichever way it did, regardless if it was from murder, suicide, disease, or anything else.

There's also the idea of while preparation for future events is helpful, some people take it too far and too hard and become way too obsessed with it. An example is those people who actually grinded to Lv. 200 in MS.

And like always, there will be those few people who try to cheat their way through life, and some of them get caught. The ones that get away with it are just lucky in my eyes.

Of course, the end objective is to reach the end of this game, and that when the game ends, there's no such thing as "winning" or "losing". It's what happened on the way that matters. It's how much you accomplished. (Or thereby lack of) And like the many games out there, what constitutes as "having a good life" will vary as much as the colors of the rainbow.

There is no point in life... Nor is there a point for the Earth to turn around it's axis in 24 hours...

Still, it both happens...

The quest of life is in effect to carry out the life or death struggle until you lose and thus to reproduce (and leave behind more chances to win a losing game) and dominate the Earth. But of course we can consume much more than the Earth, perhaps entire galaxies and other species. This is why you must destroy the Christ Cult, they want you to die for a man who supposedly died for you! What hogwash.

...I always wondered why in the movies we always got invaded by aliens. Spaceship Troopers was refreshing.

The reason we live is due to the laws of nature. However, the meaning of life (a universal answer) will always be too deep for any human to understand.

Think about it logically, some organisms have a lifespan of a day, they either reproduce or their species goes extinct. Humans are not too different.

Exactly what I thought when I saw the thread title.

Like most people have said, I view it as a game. You can do whatever you want, really, but if you break the rules, you'll be sent out of the game. Also, you can play games within the game, leading to more fun. You can talk to people, buy pets, go shopping, etc. Oh, and you can kill monsters and stuff because it's you can and it's free! Actually i'm kinda atheist but we still became friends. He invited me to go to church many times already, and i denied it. (I've been to church before, with my parents cause they are kinda Christian, and I can't stand those people crying in the church for no apparent reason.) He said that not all churches are like that, the church i'm going to don't cry. but I was like what's the point of wasting every day of the week doing something boring, or praying to god like 3 times a day? (he prays before he eats lunch, so I assume he prays when he eats breakfast and dinner too) anyways I show him this youtube video,(a video similiar to this one, I think the one i showed him got removed

Enjoy of it before die

For me, it's to positively influence the lives of others, and to help pave the way for a brighter future for newer generations.

The point of my life is too be happy and knowledgeable. I do this by experiencing things that bring joy and enlightenment to my life. I like to experiment every once and a while and do new things. Things that might be outside of my usual comfort zone. Because every once and a while you find new paths in life that just work for you.

Everyone's idea of the point of life may vary, but there is one thing we all share in common. We all want to leave this life feeling like we have made an impression on the world. Whether it be one person or one hundred people, we want to feel as though someone was better off having us around.

For some people this means having a successful career or maybe even fame. For others it's as simple as having a family grow up well. I guess for the remainder of people who don't fall into those categories, they probably leave their mark behind in another way that is significant to them.


For me personally, I guess someday I want my parents to be proud of me, and to feel like they did a good job. I have a disability, so I am a little limited in the things I can do (Example, the career I studied for, I pretty much can't do), so someday I would like to gain independance, despite this.

I think if I can die knowing I did my best, and I conquered my own limitations, I will have no regrets.
