I'm back
#1
This place has been disappointingly puce-free in my absence.

During the past several months of deployment, I've been to:
Pattaya Beach, Thailand
Singapore, Singapore
Busan, South Korea
and Hong Kong

in addition to sailing just about everywhere in the Pacific imagineable.

I've earned my ESWS pin (basically a shiny pin that signifies that I have a general understanding of how my ship operates and who does what on it - it's a long, painful process and it feels good to be done with it. Next up is the same thing, but for our air wing).

I've sailed over the equator and completed the Crossing the Line ceremony - I am now a shellback.

I've worked long hours and seen some friends get promoted, some sent to Captain's Mast for all manner of problems (everything from drinking to sleeping around on the ship - there are 5,000+ sailors onboard underway, yes we're going to have these problems no matter how well trained the ship is).

And through it all, all I can say is - it's good to be home.

Belongs in a blog.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.
