Yeah, I don't care how self-centered this post seems. I just have to brag to the air that I got the f'ucking US visa.

Seriously though, I felt terrible being there. I was put under a process that felt awful... I was just standing there, answering really awkward questions to a guy that almost didn't care about what I was saying... It's the most subordinated I've felt in my entire life.

Let's make this an informative thread. Those living outside the US and that have traveled there sometime, how did you feel when doing the visa stuff? Did you feel abused in some way?

Got my VISA for the USA some 5 years ago (it's no longer valid now). Pretty bizarre procedure yeah, though I went with my father since he had to renew his too. The questions weren't really bizarre though, just a lot of "go sit there", "what are you going to do in the US?". But since I was just going there to visit Disney with a bought touristic package and a ticket to come back it went pretty swell.

Don't know about your reasons to go there, they tend to be more annoying if you are at the age of starting to work, going for an indeterminate period, single, no ticket back, etc.

i felt that the guy was testing my english, and got annoyed at my mom for apparently not getting it, and answering before i was able to.

then i waited some more, took some pictures, a fingerprint, and now here i am in your USA.

Depends. If you're going there for tourism, it's idiotic to ask people questions in a language they can barely speak. They just go there to go to places and spend money, what else do you need to know? If it is for another thing, like the Summer Work and Travel I'm doing, well yeah, you should be able to speak a thing or two.

My sister's dealt with a lot of pomegranate about visas and other travel problems when she was traveling Europe/living in Australia. Such a big hassle all the time.

It's balls crazy hard to get into Canada now. The immigration processes are backed up.

Nah, it's called a family reunion program or something. Permanent Residents and Citizens can sponsor families so long as they make enough money.

kind of a downgrade from just about anywhere else. Should have gone to canada
