So I got a PS3..
#1
and I'm not sure what games I should buy. So far I have Infamous and God of War 3. Just wondering what you guys think are definite buys. I'm pretty much an RPG junkie but I do like shooters and combat games. I hate sports games so don't even go there.
I'm also dying to play FF13 however I realize the sequel is coming out so maybe they would sell a double pack of 13 and 13-2..?

Also if Sarah sees this thread: I'd really love to hear your opinion on what are the best buys so far. I've read your review blogs and seem to pretty much share your interest in games.

i like Devil May Cry myself, pretty challenging game, FF13 was annoying until a certain part, but was pretty cool i guess, other than that... hmmm.... can't really help you.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, guys. I'll look into those Disgaea games, also will likely get Resident Evil 5 in the future since I played 4 and absolutely loved it. So many appealing games out there!

It's the single worst FF ever, and yes, I played both 5 and 8 and still claim that, buy it now, beat it quick and be prepared for January when 2 comes out to redeem it so you can enjoy the bonus content from a finished #1 without having to endure the trauma of playing it right before you play the actual enjoyable one.

The Uncharted Series
Little Big Planet 2 (The first one would be pretty much just for accesories for Sackboy and stuff, and the "story", since you can play online levels of the first one in the second)
Infamous 2
Heavy Rain

The Ratchet & Clank series

(Multi-plat):
Grand Theft Auto IV
Red Dead Redemption

The Assassin's Creed series
Batman Arkham Asylum (Arkham City close to release)
Portal 2

I don't know much about RPG's, but I liked Final Fantasy XIII, and I don't think there will be a pack with both. There's also Ni no Kuni coming. There will also be Final Fantasy Versus XIII.
Oh yeah, and the infamous Demon's Souls and Dark Souls.

And if you haven't played them, or like remakes, there's God of War Collection, God of War Origins, and Ico & Shadow of the Colossus.

Obviously you're not "inb4" if you're replying to an instance of it.

Talking about FF12, not FF13. I never touched 13.
Since you were talking about "Bad Final Fantasy" games, and seeing as a lot of people seem to hate 12 for whatever reason.

Ah. 12 was nice. It was very much a good direction for the series IMO.

Heard god of war was good, oblivion if PS3 has that if your into the million different things you can do, so much freedom in that game its insane plus its really cheap I got mine like 6-8 months ago for $15.

Wow thanks guys! I'll look into all of these.

Also @Eos that's depressing Sad But I feel like I'm enough of a Final Fantasy fanboy that I'll enjoy it regardless. I dunno. Also FF12 is amazing and one of my absolute favourites of the series Biggrin

that Dead Island has a mix of shooting(depends on your class, I prefer Sam B, Blunt Weapons.) and RPG, same thing with Borderlands, but that game got stale rather quickly (desert, desert and more desert.) Well, they're basically First Person games with RPG elements such as leveling up and skill trees.

I tried that Final Fantasy 13 and did not like it, but hey, you may.

There are some RPGs out there like White Knight Chronicles(looks like an MMORPG without the MMO part, but you can play online.)

That's the problem; It feels entirely disconnected from the series. It's vaguely like someone took a copy of Doom and shoved an FF skin on it. You don't do anything move forward in and endless chain while holding down the confirm button for approximately 11 out of 13 chapters, then on that shining 11th chapter the game becomes fun... and you pass it and go right back to what it was from the beginning and lose the will to live.

Well damn. But if the sequel is going to be good I'll have to play it anyway so I know what's going on. Maybe I'll take your advice and buy it soon then so I have it done by the sequel's release. Thanks for the heads up.

It's more or less the same (and unfortunately true) advice sarah gave me. January is right around the corner and the sequel looks absolutely awesome by comparison so I will eventually force myself to leave the shiny happiness of chapter 11 and finish the damn thing.
