With the new Acension Skill Updates
#1
For mages, what are the main skill builds or new skills to max first? Are people training with different skills now since the new skills seem promising?

How should I allocated my skill points? I am lv. 160 i/l archmage

Thanks in advance!

Ice/Lighting:

2nd Job: Max everything except Cold Beam.
3rd Job: Max everything except Seal.
4th Job: By lvl 160 you should max Glacial Chain, max Arcane Aim, max Chain Lighting and max Buff Mastery. From this point You could go Maple Warrior, Elquiness or Infinity.

Fire/Poison:

2nd Job: Max everything except Fire Arrow.
3rd Job: Max everything except Seal.
4th Job: By lvl 160 max Mist Eruption, max Paralyze, max Arcane Aim and Max Buff Mastery. From this point you could max Maple Warrior, Ifrit or Infinity.

I recommend 9 Maple Warrior and then 10 summon, followed by max Infinity. (The summon because of the ele resist and extra damage, but I guess you should go as your mastery books aloud.)

Absolutely. Slow is very nice for some of the faster bosses. Fire Arrow is obsolete. This is of course if you are already passed 2nd Job.

Slow is a must. For Lhc and bossing its way useful. At least for me. And Fire Arrow is indeed obsolete. It's best to max Poison Breath, which is now a 6 mobbing attack and does decent Dot.

Fire Arrow is actually rather useless now. Poison Breath is now a mob attack and can travel at an angle as well as cause DoT, and the DoT effect gives a damage bonus to Mist Explosion in fourth job. Slow also has many uses in later training grounds and against mobile bosses. As such, leaving Fire Arrow unmaxed is the way to go, since all of the other skills are going to be used later on, while Fire Arrow is abandoned as soon as the mage hits level 70.

I heard about poison breath hitting 6 enemies I thought it was a typo and it was 3rd job, also do we still get the 10)% mastery books if we arent 3rd job but advance to it for example once the game is up?

Had to fix this.

Poison breath wasn't moved - it's still second job, it just hits 6 enemies now (and has a new animation).

Yes, you will receive the 100% mastery books if you hit 3rd job during the event, but keep in mind that they only last 30 days, so you have a month to get to 120 and put 5 points into a given skill.

It actually is. Specially with our boost. In 30 days you got enough time, even if you only play during weekends.

Good luck though. Biggrin

I found Thunder Spear more useful than seal, mostly referring to PVP.

But, oh well, builds are not set in stone.

I don't know if you are a troll, or just a mage with too much "LUK" and few "INT".

Research the upgrades that we got with Ascension. It really improves our training, making it faster.

I don't see why you had to insult me when I asked a special question and made a small joke. I've looked over all of the updates and there are a lot of things that would probably increase training speed, but I wouldn't label any of them a "boost." Your diction made me think you saw something I didn't, but it turns out you're just a troll with poor diction.

Boost- Noun - A source of help or encouragement leading to increase or improvement.

It is way more fun if we jump down to a bunch of enemies, seal and spam ice strike on them.

"I wouldn't label any of them a "boost." != "You're using the wrong definition as defined by the dictionary."

Nah, I'm fine, brah.
