Super Smash Bros. ... Universe? (Possibly fake)

Quote:We've known since E3 that a Super Smash Bros. game is in development for the upcoming WiiU system, but a recent leak (or fake) suggests the name of the game will be "Super Smash Bros. Universe."
The source is a supposedly leaked design document that you see above. A translation of the blurry text reportedly points to third-party support (hinting at the possible inclusion of more characters like Sonic and Snake), and the abolishing of tripping a/k/a "prat-falling" (a game mechanic that has characters sometimes falling over when dashing), as well as more speed for Samus in the new game.
The provenance of this document is shady, and Nintendo is saying "No comment," so there's no indication of whether it's real or not... still, it's hard to imagine anyone would have enough time on his or her hands to create such a document, but I've been wrong on this very point before. I should learn to never underestimate the amount of time people on the internet will spend to create fake documents. Anyway, until there's a definite word, take this news with a grain of Internet-salt ™.
As for the official take on the game, here's what SSB creator Masahiro Sakurai said back in June, when asked about the new Smash Bros:
"Right now, we're devoting all our manpower to working on Kid Icarus... We've got no plans whatsoever -- we've got two new games out in the open when there's no extra time to work with them at all. It makes me cringe, and I'm not sure it's the smartest thing to make gamers wait for several years, but the early announcement was made chiefly in order to attract new team members."

Interesting stuff, I suppose.

Meh, don't really care for the name, but I've been playing the Smash games since they came out for n64, then gamecube, then wii. Can't wait for the next one.

Pretty sure this is fake, this is way too specific.

They better remove "Tripping". Worst mechanic to be added in the series. :|

I hope the removing of the tripping is real, that's the reason why I don't own Brawl.

Remember how successful Brawl was at MLG and other "Major eSports" events? Yeah...not too good.

That's because Brawl was a terrible game, for casuals.

Well Melee wasn't exactly the top either.

Are you kidding me?
Wow I wish Khoi was here.

I still have melee, I sold brawl. Brawl was clunky, slow paced, maps were too small, characters to big, they took everything that made melee good, and replaced it with sparklers.

Compared to other "Esports" games, it was never near the top.
Maybe if you explained to me otherwise, then I could have a different view on the whole thing, but compared to like SC1 / Halo / etc, it wasn't at the top. I won't deny it was popular as hell, but it just wasn't up "there".

I just hope they make it more like melee and 64 style than brawl. I loved brawl but it just isn't the same.

Even if this is fake I can't wait for the next one.

SSBM, a game still able host international wide level tournaments without (real) sponsors after 10 years. \o/

Brawl MLG was a joke.

There was already information that the next smash will be like brawl as well. So yeah!

[COLOR="#0000CD"]Brawl was a very lame game. The character additions were nice, but the actual fighting wasn't as good as it was in melee. I remember I use to be baws with Shiek, but the gravity in brawl completely changed that. .-.

Well anyway, I hope the new game has more people from other games. I want to see some megaman, and more sonic characters. And random, but I think Blaziken would be an awesome addition.

If this is indeed real, I hope they can make a Melee style battle system without dragging in SRS BUSINESS nerd rage that the Smash community tend to have. In other words, any very technical unintended bugs/glitches that becames commonly accepted fighting strategies need to never happen.

So the only real reason people don't like it is because somewhat floaty physics and tripping... quit whining. Brawl is much better than Melee fanboys are annoying..

That thing is obviously fake Sakurai hasn't even considered anything about the new super smash bros. Project Sora is busy with Kid Icarus: Uprising and that alone apparently.

Heh at least people have different thoughts would be boring if it was all the same.

Go Youtube up some videos on melee. Here, I'll do an old classic.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pD_imYhNoQ4Melee version.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bi3bi5WfwXABrawl version.

Even if it's just one video you can really see that Melee is more tailored (unintentionally) to competitiveness.

Don't get me wrong, I love Brawl. I prefer it to Melee. This is because I don't play SSB competitively. I just play it for fun. But on the competitive scheme, Melee is definitely better.

Sakurai intentionally wanted Brawl to be ENTIRELY CASUAL. That's why he added tripping and "balanced the game himself".

There are sources that say SSB4 is in production. I think there was even a thread for it here on SP a while back? Sakurai (or the developers, I forget) wants it to be on the wii u and merged with the 3DS.

There is literally no chance for this game to be like melee unless they hand the franchise to another developer and Sakurai is not overseeing the project. Making it like melee won't be the good decision when catering to the public anyway.
