Mouse skip/jumping.

As you can see from the video, my mouse skips/jumps pixels when I move it. As you can guess, this really puts a dampening on my ability to accurately aim at long distances. Does anyone have a fix for this. I'm running W7 ultimate, with a MX518 logitech mouse.

It is a "feature" of the MX518. Its called angle snapping. There isn't any way to get rid of it, since its a part of the mouse and how it interprets your movement.

Notice how the Intellimouse's lines are more fluid and human. They make no attempt at correcting the user. The MX518 tries to force straight lines whenever it can.

Try making circles in MSPaint. It'll make the angle snapping more apparent.

pineapple. Well how come my other mouses did this? I can't help but wonder what gaming would be like without all this pixel loss. Maybe it could be due to something with my resolution and my GPU?

Maybe your other mice also had angle snapping/prediction or there is another outlier being compounded with the MX518's flaws. idk.

I can reproduce your experience in the video with my own MX518, though. Extremely sharp, jagged lines when trying to be slow and precise.

Hmm. That's too bad. I guess I'll have to suffer.

This just seems to vary from mouse to mouse how bad it is.

On the really bad end, my old Dell mouse:


Not so bad, the $10 Logitech mouse I got to replace it.


Now I keep the Logitech mouse around for when I need smooth lines, cause nothing else has managed to be so good. I don't know what this feature's supposed to add.


To test them I basically just traced the circle on separate layers. With some mice it's easier to stick to the line than others...
