Red screen of death?
#1
Instead of having a normal start up screen, it's red. Then when I log onto my computer I get this :

About 10 minutes before this happened I was on my laptop and it was perfectly fine. I closed the lid to answer the door, came back, brought it out of hibernation and it started this bullsh*t. I'm super pissed cause I just paid a sh*t ton for a new hard drive and windows 7 to make it work again. The laptop is only 2 years old.

Any ideas?

It's probably a hardware malfunction if you see it on your screen and we don't. Has your laptop been hit with something/dropped/etc recently?

Nope. It just sits on my desk. Today when I brought it down to sit on my couch with it, I cracked it on my knee, other than that it doesn't get hit. I literally had it in the same spot untouched for under 10 minutes.

Edit: Ray I know you're on my facebook, I uploaded a pic there from my phone.

that happened to my laptop too. the only way to fix it, is to sorta "twist" or hit the screen gently.

it's a hardware issue, of course.

Judging from the shape of the lines (ie not being vertical or horizontal) I'd have to agree with Imitazion, it looks like something folded or warped or something.

I don't get it since it wasn't messed with in any way...

Hmm... when I tilt my screen at a different angle it stops and goes back to normal or it flashes from the red/pink to normal.

It could've been temperature change, though I've never heard of that actually damaging a laptop before.

My laptop never really gets hot since I have a/c and there is a fan always blowing in the laptops direction. I thought that too maybe, but didn't think it was possible since it's been overheated before and have had no issues.

Ambient temperature, not necessarily the laptop's temperature.
