MapleStory doesn't start.
#1
Hi!

A few days ago MS stopped working for me. I've tried re-installing MS two times, and made sure it's patched to the latest version.
Every time I start it up HS loads, but then I get an error. I also can't read what error message I get because the text is... quite weird (if anyone has a solution to this problem I'd be grateful as well)

Has anyone had this problem before and knows a solution?

Also: After I get the error message, the e-tracer pops up, if that's of any importance.

Edit: I get this error message:
(saved it as a gif in mspaint, which is why the quality of the picture sucks, but the text still looks like that)

It's quite clear. Your arabian.

Just reinstall MapleStory. That for some reason is always the answer when I have MapleStory problems. Send a ticket to Nexon. In 6 months you will have your answer.

I can help you, first of all, I assume you are using Windows XP, so what you have to do is the next...

1.- Go to control panel and looks for the option that says: Date, Time, Language and regional options.
2.- Click on regional and language options.
3.- Go to the advanced tab.
4.- Look for the one that says something like "Language for uni-code programs" and select english.
4.5 .- Acept.
5.- ???
6.- Profit.

I'm Swedish (aka european), and europe got blocked back in 2009, so I doubt it's that :/
And I'm not using a proxy, just an old account that still works.

Instead of trying to make witty replies by using repeated layouts, did you even try googling "maplestory doesn't start" and tried the solutions people give? Heck, try looking for "maplestory gibberish error".

Because no one's going to give a pineapple try to guess what your problem is.

Using repeated layouts? Like the one you used?

Don't get mad because you didn't read the thread before posting. This thread doesn't contain that many pages y'know and it does not take that very long to read the third post in this thread (second if you don't include the one I started with).
I have googled this quite a lot actually, without finding any answers, explanations or solutions. I've also made a thread on basil, looked through basil and SW as well.
Therefor I made this thread, because I was hoping that someone actually had a possible solution. Seems logical if you think a bit, doesn't it?

I'm on Schteken's side here. Sorry Muppy, but you didn't really have a right to be mad.

Try this link to setting the language to English.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?...312AAqqwSE

And when you reinstalled, did you makes sure you deleted everything? The Nexon folder, and did you fix registry errors with
ccleaner or something?

Heck, also redownload the client too, not just reinstall.

I've used ccleaner a few times to fix registry problems, without any result tho. I've had this 'text problem' for quite some time tho.
But MS stopped working two weeks ago after I got randomly dced (probably someone who mapcrashed) at the crafting village.
I've deleted everything, downloaded the new client from nexon's site (deleting the entire nexon map afterwards & searching through my computer deleting everything named nexon, wizet and maplestory excluding screenshots), changing language in the settings (three different settings to english, then restarting).
But I think I only can fix it by changing the default language on XP to english from Swedish, which would need the XP CD or so.
I also patched to v.100 but that didn't make much difference :/

Also, after Hshield loads I get the error which I SS'ed, but after that I get the e-tracer, not sure if that happens on any other problems (such as invalid pointer etc)

Alright, I'm sorry 'bout all that. Meh, I knew I shouldn't have replied to this when I saw that facepalm image.

Schteken Wrote:Seems logical if you think a bit, doesn't it?

Actually, if you've really googled and looked around for a fix like you said you did, and found NOTHING of the sort, the most logical conclusion would be that the error should be translated before anything else.

Plus, having no one replying to your thread with a working solution or even to say that they have/had the same error, simply shows that either the error really is rare or it's just a problem of being able to read wtp that gibberish means.
