Are the Premium Cash Shop Surprises NX Prepaid only?

Was waiting for this. The 2x EXP card would be nice, but I wonder how long does it last.

Also, they currently have all their possible money-cows out. Are they having money issues or something?

For how strange that might sound, I can see no other reason a big company could let their main money-making and most popular game go like they've been doing in the past months. Maybe so many people are quitting that they're losing a lot of money and can't pay their GM staff enough to patrol the game? (remember that their GM staff also answers Customer Support tickets.. and I fear they might NOT have separate staff for the two duties)

It might be a vicious circle that in which MapleStory got itself into. Nexon started losing customers, therefore money, because of the hacking issue, and eventually they were not able to pay GMs enough to patrol the game for a sufficient amount of time to make it an hacker-free place. This leads to more hackers showing up and more frustrated people quitting, leading to Nexon losing more money and not being able to do anything. Eventually, since we all know there will always be some people buying NX, they'll only have enough money to keep the game running and to update it, so, even if I don't believe it will completely close anytime soon, it will still be left in a horrible state, and will be a place where hackers will have taken over, even more than they have right now. This is pretty negative as a prediction, but that's what I think COULD happen to the game.

I really don't want to think that a company is so careless about their customers to not WANT to care at all about them and leave the game in the state it is right now. That'd just be TOO stupid, even for them, as they lose money and their name will be associated to a horrible company more than ever.

They've also shown they can do a pretty good job with hackers when they can/want to. MWLBs seemed to help a little, and previously they used to monitor the game, surely more than they do right now (are they even doing it?). Now, it's back to 2 years ago, when the hackers made the game almost unplayable. I'm hoping it's just another bad era for MapleStory, and that it will end. Sooner or later.

Right now, some maps such as Master Death Teddies are almost unplayable. Hackers literally in every channel. Some of my friends are seriously thinking of quitting, as it's getting unbearable.

Give your SSN just to play a computer game? I'd only give it to my employer. I think Nexon should implement some kind of HWID(hardware identification) to associate one account to a computer. That way hackers stop making like a hundred accounts and people actually interact with each other instead of using mules. Since your account is specifically registered to your computer, you can't get hacked even if someone else has all your info.

Then Nexon could add some kind of bonus for leveling up characters like the cygnus blessing, like if you level up a warrior all your characters get bonus str.

The HWID thing was just a suggestion. Of course there's going to be a few problems for people transitioning to a new security system.

-people who didn't make all their characters on one account won't like the one account system
-siblings who share a computer will have to make their characters on one account(possible solution: require different pins for different characters)
-computer breaks(ps: able to request a HWID change if account is inactive in game for like 7 days)

You're wrong.
Shielding Wards prevent your equip from booming, but do not prevent slot loss if the scroll fails. That's where Pam's Song comes in.

To use both: have Pam's in your inventory. Use Ward (drag and drop onto item to be scrolled). Use dark scroll. The Ward will get used up, regardless of whether the scroll succeeds or not. If the scroll failed, you will get a Pam's pop-up asking whether you want to restore the slot.

HWID security systems are weak and easily bypassable.

By the way, if you're wondering "how can Nexon America even not have enough money to pay their customers after earning so much money through NX?", remember that, even if, for example, $500.000 might seem a lot to you, it probably isn't that much for a company who has to maintain such an huge and popular game.

What I'm saying is, yeah, there still are several people buying NX. Yeah, they probably still have high incomes. BUT they MIGHT not be enough, as you should remember that they probably have over 40 (probably several more) very powerful computers active all the time, and that, plus the maintaining costs, electricity, high-speed internet connections, developer staff who addresses major bugs as soon as possible and takes decisions (such as having to rollback) during major game screw-ups, and a lot of other things, cost Nexon America a lot of money. There are probably many other things which I forgot to mention as I'm not experienced in game managing, but you get the idea.

Now, I don't want to sound like the one who justifies them, but I just can't think that they actually don't give a pomegranate about their biggest money-making game. Unless the company's CEO decided that he earned enough money from all this and that he didn't want to spend more than what's necessary to keep their games playable anymore. But I really doubt this is the case, even because, according to some people, they do a decent job with other games.

Conclusion: They haven't released Pam's Song in the Cash Shop for 7 months. If they released that, plus Shielding Wards, plus Cash Shop Surprises, all in a short amount of time between each other, it might NOT be a case, and it might be that they need more money. Afterall, it's not so unbelievable, seeing how many customers quitted because of frustration.

You know what would make them even more money? Add the f'ucking Pink Bean pet to the Cash Shop already. Either permanent or 90-days would make people happy campers.
