Fuse giving out clean equips...
#1
See title. Sometimes when I fuse items it gets me a clean equip, meaning I lost another one of them... Is it meant to be like this? The description clearly says 100% success rate. It keeps happening and I absolutely cannot afford to lose these equips...

Is this a bug or is there something I'm not getting here?

The description's talking about the chance of getting an item back.
2 items without potential: 85% no-pot, 15% pot (approximate)
1 item without potential, 1 with potential: 85% no-pot, 15% pot (approximate)
2 items with potential: 95% pot, 5% no-pot

Regardless of what items you use, the potential will be rare ~95% of the time, epic another ~4.8% of the time, and unique maybe 0.2% or less.

After fusing lvl31 shoes like a mofo on 3 characters, this ratio seems wrong to me. I got lots and lots of potencial stuff. :f6:

Agreed, combining non-potentialed earrings on my alchemist created more potential items than non-potential items.

You only get a chance to get Potentialed Items if you only Fuse Clean unpotentialed items in the first place, i believe chance increase if you put a potentialed items with a non potential item, and i gotten 100% success rate when using 2 potentialed items.

I've had two pot items come out un-pot, it is definitely rare though.

Also if you plan on leveling up a blacksmith mule at some point the majority of what comes out (~90% I'd guess) has pot on it, which is perfect for fusing. Saves you money on npc equips and gives you a nice amount of pot equips.

Even though everyone already answered your question, I want to make sure I understand it properly. You are expecting Fusion, defined as the process or result of joining two or more things together to form a single entity, to result in two items when you put in two?

I got 1 Epic item and 1 Unique so far. The unique was a Lv.40 warrior shoe with 4% all stat and 4% luk (and something useless). The epic had +% accuracy and avoid(earring). Fuse is really cool though, and since a lot of equips from smithing/equipment crafting come out with potential, I'm wondering if accesories that can get potential (like belts) get it a lot too (I've been purely leveling my Jeweler, and looking for an Angelic Blessing recipe).

Not exactly the topic, but important observation:

After fusing about 100 shirts across various characters in GMS, I can confirm that fusing two pot items DOES NOT ALWAYS result in a pot item, happened to me about three times. This is in contrast to Tespia, where I never encountered nor heard of anyone encountering this. I'm not sure if this is ala 100% scrolls failing or what, but it happens.

we actually did encounter it a bit, but, well, it was very rare.

Like it was stated, the rate is for getting an item back, not getting the potentialed item. Though potential gear seems to come out very easily, like 2/3 for the tests i've done while grinding professions fusing lv 10 gear. :o

Just reminding people,
Quote:Profession Boom Up Event - 07.11.2011 - 08.09.2011

Requirement: Lv.30 or higher
* 2x chance to earn an item of your harvesting profession rank or higher while harvesting.
* 10x chance to earn an item of your crafting profession rank or higher while crafting.
10x chance to earn hidden potential is just an event. Since the base chance was higher than 10% already, I'm not sure why it doesn't become 100%, but you can expect it to drop off after August 9th.

Did you mean to quote something else? because that is not what that says.

It makes sense, even if it's horribly worded/explained. I've been crafting things and getting hidden potential items at a ridiculous rate.

It's not about what the words say, it's deducing what it could possibly mean. You always get the item you forge with Jewelry/Smithing, so there's no "item of your rank or higher" like there is with item crystals, unless it means the chances of potential are better.
