You don't. If they're really doing that, walk away and curse that they're arrogant idiots.

Well, that would be what I would do.

Tell him that you've said all you've needed to and you're not going to argue anymore. He knows he's wrong inside, there is no need to make him admit it. A victory in the mind is much more worth it.

Assuming the other person is not a US senator (or other person with authority), it doesn't matter what they think. Just remember this xkcd comic:

Just nod and smile at them because you could be wrong.

If I notice the guy won't cease, I'll first consider if I'm wrong myself. Then, if I still think I'm right, and the other guy won't listen, I'll simply leave, or change the conversation :p

Ugh I see this all the time on facebook debates (thats why I avoid them). At that point it just degenerates into a contest of who gets the last word.

Also avoid people who belittle or insult your beleifs everytime they try to advance their point. They are just interested in hearing themselves talk.

present all the evidence that says you're right, try to get your point across and simplify it as much as you can to make them understand. if after all, you see the other person still can't accept he/she is wrong, just desist...

if it's a religious freak, just say "if you're so sure god exists and science doesn't explain everything, how come they have dinosaur bones and weird skulls from prehistoric men and you just have a book written by men that says you're right?"

I just learned from experience is that the only way to take them down is to get other people to agree with you and fight for you.

The vast majority of the time you cannot make someone admit they're wrong. To a lot of people, "winning" an argument is as much a matter of will as it is of actually being right. A lot of @ssholes want to be right all the time, so they're right because they're "cool" and "stubborn."

My basic advice to people is to pick and choose who you spend a good deal of your time talking to. I know plenty of even good people who can't admit they're wrong, the solution is to not argue with them. That doesn't make you wrong, it just saves you a lot of time and aggravation.

A person who never admits they're wrong and is abusive is a person who should be avoided at all costs; cause if you don't, (s)he will make you into a peach, undermine your self-esteem and cause you a lot of grief.

There are people who are just simply uneducated. They do not understand rationality, reasoning or argumentation. It doesn't necessarily mean they're 'dumb'. It just means they didn't have the opportunity to be educated or just didn't want to be. I find it better just to nod and agree with these people because since you 'can't win'. If you're not gonna back down to a person who's wrong and won't admit they're wrong, then you're just as stubborn as they are. "The greatest battles are the battles not fought".
