Actually, it is faster, but your internet is the same. It just...like...does something with the servers or something. O_o.

The only way a browser can get "faster" is to alter it's download / page buildup stategy:
- Small or Large files first?
- Text / Images first?
- File per file download / Multiple files at once download
- Single threaded downloading / Multiple threaded downloading (aka chop a file in pieces)
- Speed up the GUI of the browser
- Make the browser -REALLY- multithreaded for multiple core CPU's
- Make the browser -REALLY- 64 bit on a 64 bit OS
etc etc...
P.S. speedtest = always a different speed, try it 20x in the same browser and you'll ge 20x another (slightly different) result.

*facepalm* The speed test measures your *connection* speed, which is the same no matter what browser you use. What Chrome is faster at is *rendering* the page and certain cases of javascript, not downloading the page.

Is there anyway to explain the ~400 kb/s difference between tests though?

Well, you're not going to download everything at the same exact time...there should be slight variations.

Weather problems? There's a lot of variables.

think of Internet connection as water pipes. If there're no one using it, then you get full flow, if others are using it, then you dont get as much.
Also, traffic gets slower at busier "intersections". Then, there're many other variables that could've slow down or speeds up your connection.
When chrome says faster, I dont think they meant faster Internet speed. That's your line, router, NIC, ISP etc. It has very little to do with chrome.
I believe what it meant is the loading time, and to an extend rendering time. Although different browser has different parsing methods and different tolerances for bad HTML codes, as well as different caching algorithm, their control is quite limited.

I dunno. Maybe it's just my computer having issues with Chrome, but it lags up the whole program when I try to watch a YT video or play any flash game. And animated images display really slowly.
And I know it isn't purely the computer because it works fine on Firefox.
