Are you participating in Cake vs Pie?
#1
This event is actually one of the biggest let downs ever. Not only is it borked, but it's also poorly designed this year. For starters, the rewards seem to have a very high input value to receive the prizes. As if that wasn't bad enough, the prizes aren't really that great, in my opinion anyway. Then there's the spam. God damn, the spam. Why would you spam the notice so badly? Is there even a point in doing this? This entire event seems poorly designed and not worth doing. Especially how over hyped it is.

How about you guys? Are you participating?

I was for the first two days, but when I read that you don't get insignias for losing and that choosing a side makes certain skills break, I gave up. It's not worth the effort with all the bugs and glitches Nexon has put into this terrible event.

I wanted to try for the shoulders, but the 10am - 10pm limit is...problematic. As it is, there's little chance of me getting enough insignias in time.

Over hyped? Oh come on... it's only had seven announcements two videos and a dev blog... how would it be over hyped Rolleyes
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.

I thought of participating but although this might seem as a little issue, the only town getting full, at least most of the time, is henesys, so for anyone out of victoria you got to participate on a mule. For this i thought it isnt worth the trouble.

I stopped caring when I remembered that the Cake vs. Pie event only had one scroll worth going for and a chair, both of which took too much time to get. It didn't help that after the event started, I found out that the defending team couldn't do anything but watch as the attacking team won.

I'm still participating. Got 50 insignia so far, although I'd have 60 if I didn't CC right when the invitation to fight appeared. Going to try to grab and hoard as many white scrolls as I can.

Last year's event was a lot more fun though, if not ridiculously laggy. Defending thid year is pointless at my level range. I wish they would cut down on the amount of cake and pie to trigger a battle, because at its current rate, it seems like only 4 or 5 fights are triggered throughout the course of an entire day in Windia. I remember there were lots more fights last year.

I honestly don't think the event is really that bad this year, although that's probably because I was on the Pie faction last year, in which Cake won all the time in Windia. All I could manage was a Chaos Scroll.

i think a lot less people are participating this time, dunno why i think that though.

but for me, i'm not doing it, it's either VL without magic crash, or miss cake/pie... i'd rather miss cake/pie Rolleyes

Yeah, it sure does seem like less people are participating this year.

All of the towns in which the event takes place have become rather out-of-the-way since Big Bang. Makes a big difference. A lot less people hanging around at Henesys for some reason, Orbis is deserted except for the people heading down the tower to El Nath and LHC (probably thanks to Kerning Square and Scarecrows being superior training), Leafre is deserted save for the hackers who won't contribute anything to the event (compared to endgame training last year), and Magatia has become even more deserted than before.

You know, I don't even think the bonus EXP for winning even works properly as well. I remember killing one monster and getting bonus EXP for it, and then it just shut off.

Not participating. It's too much of a bother really. I don't have fun trying to get insignias or killing cake/pie boss. Should have included better chairs or rewards really.

More like, should have kept the event the same as last year, but limit off how many people could fight per channel by an even larger margin. Even with the limit they set in place halfway through last year's event, it was still really bad for a good chunk of players.

They had the channel crashing and mini rollbacks from dupers which made it worse. :/

Did those exist at the time? I've never had it happen to me at all during the entirety of the event last year and I pretty much swarmed every channel the bosses were spawned on.

It was bad in Scania after like the first week. Then whenever Dual Blade patch was, we had more of that pomegranate.

Might have done it for the shoulder, if I could get a definite "It's permanent", but...
- Kradia seems to have very few battles, especially during my playing time (Euro timezone ftw),
- Can't choose a side until I've done my bossing for the day, due to the stupid skill glitch, and by the time my HT partner logs on it's nearly my bedtime,
- Reading about the glitches with insignia awards and being locked in waiting room and so on, really doesn't sound enticing.

So, yeah, just going to wait until these shoulders, or better, show up in another event or I can Craft or buy some. I'll live.

This is exactly why I'm not participating.
All of my characters are set to train/search for loot far away from the "main towns".

They really should have better thought out the system as far as town distribution is concerned.
Really, what's the point of having different pools for different towns anyway?
More people could/would participate if the NPCs were in every town and there was one large pot.

That's a leftover from last year's original design, where the fight map was the town map, so having one big pot would mean one insanely big crowd.
(Which it did anyway because people would tele or travel to every town just for the fights)
It became less necessary when they changed it to have separate battles in each channel, and limited the number of people who could enter the map.
Now that they have a special instanced battle map with pre-determined team sizes, the whole 4 town thing has become utterly unnecessary. Well, except for the rewards like 10% exp and discounts on potions, but really, wouldn't be any harm to just give it for the whole world or drop it entirely. People participate for the insignia, anyway.

I've been going to the events when they pop up, but I haven't bothered getting any pieces or bothered going to any of the green envelopes.
Wouldn't mind getting a free ws off minimal effort.

I was going to but I felt that this year lost all of its fun charm that last year's had (and I hadn't even been able to get on since the patch to find out). I could be a bit biased here because I was on the winning side last year (Cake) but I loved last year's event. The rush to towns for battles so we could get insignias whether we won or lost, having an actual challenge (usually in Henesys or Leafre) whenever high levels from the other team actually came and tried to fight (Cyanne was on the Pie team and she was one of the people who made it fun :c), stalking towns and meeting new people (I actually made a few friends waiting for cake/pie bars to fill up in towns), and even staying up late for it.

Sure, there was town lag, and DCing during a lot of the fights was a huge downside to it, but if there were too many people, I'd either just sit away from them or go to a channel that had not too many and try to win in them. This year's, you're forced in a small map with people and you don't get to choose channels to defend. And no insignia when you lose? Really?

This year's Cake vs. Pie is just a huge letdown, and it was the only event I was really looking forward to this year.
