Was this recent? I just seen a thread about it on Basil, but it seems it must have happened last month according to the letter from Nexon that was posted on the official site. http://www.maplesimulator.com/
This was one of the best programs out there that was associated with Maplestory, and it wasn't even a hacking tool, yet was closed. Thanks Nexon Korea. Thanks for ruining one of the best programs out there that in no way hurt you.
Nexon of Korea have sent me a Cease and Desist letter to stop all MapleStory activities that are held in this site. This time it will be all, not just a single game client as opposed to what happened with Nexon of America. Again, I have explained them through emails what the programs are, what they do and what they don't, but with no success. It is true what they are stating in their letter: I am violating their copyright material, so I have no right to fight against that. You can check a screenshot of the letter below (I have already checked and its real).
I never expected this program to be as popular as it is and for so long, but its all thanks to you. I am glad that you have found it useful not only for all your creative needs, but also as a jump-starting point into the world of MapleStory. As for the site, everything that is related to MapleStory will be removed, leaving the rest intact.
Please take into account that distribution of the copyright infringement material is also part of the clauses written in the letter. That means that I cannot provide any downloads of any kind. That includes the program and its resources, extraction tools and source codes.
Hmm, just thinking... What could they have sued him for anyways? He wasn't taking donations, neither he did ANY damage to their business or game, actually reverse. I don't know if they even know that 95% of maplers used the program. Hell they even featured videos and screens that were clearly made with bannedstory. The bannedstory stuff often even won in the contests.
If anything BannedStory was free advertising for MapleStory.
Someone here is probably good at law so they could open this case a bit.
If he was tried based on south korean copyright law, he would be guilty since he didn't have permission from nexon korea and they don't have a 'fair use' clause. In the U.S., he would be protected by fair use if he can prove he's a nonprofit that had no effect on how much nexon made since bannedstory was started. He probably doesn't have the money/time to fight it out with nexon so there's nothing he can do besides close it down.

There's a donate button at the bottom of the site, or there was one earlier this morning.
[COLOR="darkgreen"]Wow, thats lame. I used bannedstory often. If anything it helped nexon, since i always used it to decide on my next nx set
I seriously dont understand why they target a harmless site and not GK, w8, many others which are basically milking illegitmate profit from this game...
