Whilst browsing the countless "zomg khere, i got 5-20b mesos, can i be godly?!?!" threads across all the maple forums, i was curious on how many of you guys strictly make money to buy prescrolled items or do you just save up and cube/scroll your own equips?
Personally, most of the time, i buy items that are already at least epic and cube them for improvement or i item maker items and start mass potential'ing hoping to land a 3 liner with the additional stats from crystals and stuff.
Having played ms for quite some time(gem cursor), i've always been intrigued on scrolling things/making items myself instead of saving to buy already finished items.
I read all these threads about how much funding can said amount of mesos take you, and i look back at the items i've scrolled cubed, and simply by taking the risks to cube/scroll myself, i feel like my meso has gone a longer way than just buying things already finished.
What do you guys do/prefer?

Spent tons of real money on NX for cubing. While it is all heavily dependant on luck, I would advise against this unless you have alot of spare real money to spend. It's pretty instant though.
People buy pre-cubed stuff because it's safe stats and it's ready to use straight away without further investment. Also cubes can really bite you with bad luck at the worst of times, and it can sometimes end up costing more to cube something to the stats you want than it would have been to just buy it pre-cubed. That being said, if you're cubing common stuff and come across a good pote for another class, you can try to sell it on and shoot for a profit if you have the patience.
As for mesos they came from by-products of cubing, boss runs and random hunting. Have not gached in years. Similar principle applies to buying pre-scrolled stuff.

The majority of my gear is pre-cubed save for the female thief top/bottoms which I had to cube myself (since pre-cubed female gear almost never exists in the FM). The way I see it, earning mesos can be done through a semi-consistent rate even in today's terrible economy. Spending NX on cubes do not guarantee you any form of precision when it comes to getting the stats you want. The horror stories I hear about cubes (such as a friend using 120+ cubes on an item that is still rare) deter me away from wanting to use them unless I really have to. Buying pre-cubed also allows expenses to fall under a more predictable spectrum for funding.
The only problem with buying pre-cubed gear is that very rarely do you see unique items that are 18%+ or more in FM for straight-out buyable prices. For that reason, the majority of my gear ended up being 15% average. So if you wish to acquire 18%+ gear, you'd need to either cube them yourself, trade for them, or do other sorts of problematic head-aching deals involving max mesos and arguing the price of white scrolls to get the transaction across.

I try to buy pre-scrolled/cubed stuff. I absolutely hate cubing.

I like to make my eqiups myself. I hate merching.
That means makering/hunting, potentialling, scrolling then cubing all done by me. (there's VERY few exeptions, I can only think of my thief shoes which I bought, and my mittens because I hate gacha)
I think I spend about 70$ on cubes. I stop cubing when an item has at least 3% of the stat I want, which is fairly fast.

Right now none of my gear was bought for the specific potential. Though I have bought a couple items for their epic status, and then cubed them to stats I want.
For normal scrolls, I usually buy prescrolled. Just a matter of wanting stats I couldn't have without a long and boring process of buying a whole bunch of clean items, scrolling them, and then reselling all the ones that aren't good enough. I'd rather just buy a single item (eg. my 20 str top) and be done with it.
The vast majority of the time, prescrolled is cheaper than scrolling yourself. You would have to consistently be luckier than 60% success rates for that to be untrue.
