Will Duke Nukem Forever be censored?
#1
Well I should clarify: I mean to ask; is the American Version of Duke Nukem Forever going to be censored?

Call me a conspiracy theorist but it seems odd that America was originally going to be the first to get it and then it switched after the June dates were announced. And when you factor in the idea the Americans seems to have a fetish for censorship it's not all that surprising.

So I'm curious if the American Duke Nukem is getting nerfed (if so does anyone know if a European version of the game can be played on an American Xbox, if so how?)

I hope not. America is more lientent than a lot of countries when it comes to censorship: See Australia, China, Japan, and a lot of Europe.

Then again, I think America is the only version that blocked "gambling" in Pokemon. ;__;

I don't think they region lock games, just control where they're sold. A european version of the game SHOULD work on any xbox, but you'll only find them in European stores.

That would be Europe.

And actually, they do lock games by region. But that's up to the publisher.

And ew. I thought we were beyond doing that crap. So much for 21st century.

It depends what rating they're after.

I don't know how game ratings are in America, but in the UK they go U, PG, 3+, 7+, 12+, 15+, some are 16/17+ and then 18+. If they want a lower age rating, they'll censor a lot (lower age rating = more people can buy it). If they want to keep the hardcore badass nature of Duke, they'll not filter much.

I doubt it will be censored any. Can't be any worse than God of War is, and that hasn't been censored in the US.

Duke's past games weren't censored THAT much if i remember correctly, I'm more worried about the god awful dubbing most games get when they come out in mexico, hope at least it comes out as multi language like gears of war, the voice actors they pick suck .____. they don't seem to understand the spanish spoken in mexico is way different to the one spoken in spain / other latin countries.
Been waiting for this game forever, hopefully I don't have to pay twice it's value to play it in english like i had to with ALL halo games, dead space and tons of other games Monocle

Why would they hire more actors for just one country when they can do a universal language to cover most? English spoken in England is different to American English, yet they wont change the the actors for us (some games do, though).

That's not what i'm trying to say, my point is they should include the english language version along with w/e other one for the country its meant for in the final game.
i.e. gears of war has all language support on the same disc (german, english, french, spanish and more) and halo reach forces you to play it in spanish with weird colombian like accents.
I'd rather play it in it's original language .__. and not have to pay twice it's worth to import an Usa release.
