Theory on Permanent CS Equips
#1
Nexon is starting up the permanent CS equips again, could this be just another 1 time thing and will disappear for while, or do you think it's here to stay for awhile?

But what if Nexon is doing the permanent CS equips just to get the most out of their customers before they start fading out support on Maplestory and begin working on Maplestory 2? You know it's coming, sooner or later. Maplestory cannot be a 2d game forever, judging by the popularity of Maplestory they are bound to release version 2 sometime with updated graphics in 2.5d or even 3d. What's the point of continuing to make CS equips expire in 3 months when people will no longer renew them again if Maplestory 2 is on it's way?

Plausible or crazy?

It's under Event tab, so I'm guessing a one time thing.

Hmm.
These perma items cost three times the 90-day ones, so they'll have paid for themselves in 9 months.
I find it hard to believe MapleStory 1 will shut down in less than 9 months. It's still making way too much money for Nexon.
If MapleStory 2 is released before then, it will be in parallel.

By making things like this limited time it increases sales. If you know you can get something in a month than you're less likely to run out and buy NX. They'll continue making sales like this in cycles because it creates a lot more demand and therefore revenue. Though I wouldn't count on another perma pet event until after a new job comes out.

Anyway, assuming Maple Story 2 comes out and is successful, Maple Story will continue to operate until it is no longer profitable. I'm betting they'll do parallel patches (june: ms 1 patch, july: ms 2 patch) to try and get the same players to play and invest in both games but in order to do that MS2 would need to pretty different from MS1 while still appealing to the same audience.

Eosian, I didn't know you could tell the future. You think you can tell me the next Lotto 649 numbers for next week?

Well, I don't think they will shut down production of MS 1 forever, but I'm sure once MS2 announced it will hinder their sales a bit if they keep on with the 90 day expire concept.

You asked if it was permanent. I showed you the dates they specifically listed the event running through in the announcement.
Where is the psychic power needed there? That's basic reading comprehension, and being a text based forum you're assumed to have that if you post.

I think I missed something. Since when was it confirmed that there would be an MS 2 consisting of 3D graphics?

I thought this is just part of nexons permanent item policy.. they never truly removed the permanent option, it's just severely limited on what you can purchase permanently(mainly anything brand new added during server checks and patches).

They didn't. The OP is basing their wild suppositions on their own limited view how reality works then acting like other people are crazy for daring to confront them with... gasp... facts. The nerve!

I didn't ask if it was permanent. I was fully aware of the dates of the sale. But whatever happens after those dates is completely unknown. There could be more of these "events", and maybe eventually leading up to permanent CS stuff for ever, which brings me to why they would do something like that.

I didn't say they confirmed MS2 was going to be 3d. It was my guess to what they could be doing in the future.

Perhaps you should better acquaint yourself with the english language.
"do you think it's here to stay for awhile?"
In this sentence "it" is a pronoun. We use pronouns to refer informally to items we've previously discussed. Your previous subject was "Nexon is starting up the permanent CS equips again". Therefore your question was "do you think permanent CS equips (are) here to stay for awhile?". The answer to which was no, because we have been provided an effective date for them to go back away.

If you had wanted to discuss whether this was the beginning of them releasing "new" permanent sets episodically that would've been an entirely differently phrased sentence had you in fact been making any effort whatsoever in communicating.

You'll notice that everything you've said is being picked apart by every single person replying because you did not apply even the smallest measure of thought before letting forth your textual diarrhea and therefore came across looking very clueless and are now compounding that by spastically flailing at everyone as if they should've understood what you meant to say, rather than what you did.

You may wish to consider trying again, or at least putting careful thought into the next thing you type. We all look stupid now and then, but when it's been pointed out to you how you're doing it continuing to do it just proves that it's not an illusion.

Just because nexon do some cs based events, don't mean they are making a new maple version... and just because asiasoft call big bang maplestory3, doesn't mean they are making a new maple version...

it's just a way to inject fast money into nexon bank, perm nx stuff being sold for a short period of time = everyone charging nx to buy it = fast profit for nexon.

You're correct, English is not my first language. Let me ask you something, do you give blinds and cripples a hard time if they have trouble seeing and walking?

You're the only person here that seems to have an issue with what I said, which makes me believe you have something against me. I'm simply discussing the topic at hand with others, unlike you trying to give me english lessons and not even staying on topic.

He's giving you a "hard time" because you went out of your way to sarcastically attack him first by asking if he was a psychic when he was only answering the question you improperly posed.

I know that, but it weird that they would do something like this because it seems it would lower their sales.

Not really. They have events all the time. I got my permanent transparent hat about a year and a half ago, I think. Definitely long before all cash shop clothes had a permanent option. Do you think they were getting ready for the end of Maple back then?

They do their math. They figure a lot of people will now rush out to buy NX and full equip their pets. That's immediate money in Nexon's pocket.
For a little while they might see a decrease in the sales of the 90 day items, but the demand will pick up again as people make new accounts and new characters of classes that don't share cash shop storage. Many of those buying perma gear this week will not even be playing 3 or 6 or 9 months from now, so that's pure profit for Nexon.
All in all, I believe that if there's one thing they know how to do, it's milk their players for maximum profit.

Why not?

Let me introduce you to a game company that makes $1m dollares every day: Zygna
They've been heralded as the most profitable company ever.

You know what they're most popular/profitable game is?
Farmville

You know what they released as a sequel?
CityVille

You know how they make their money?
By selling in-game currency for real-world cash.

Nexon doesn't have to move from 2D to make more money. In fact, it's that accessability that makes the game so damn popular.
Maplestory is not a game that sells on mechanics; its profitability lies in its social aspect.
Full 3D not only means a more complicated game, but it means that those with older rigs will be left out.

Tangents aside, yeah, you're making a far-thrown conclusion.
If your theory had any grounding, then they would have never changed the permanent option to be a timed exclusive for new items.
They lost money by making everything permanent, and their realization of that prompted the change.

The only reason they even have the permanent items is because they realize that there are some people who simply would never buy NX for items that expire.
By adding the option, even for a limited time, they increase their customer pool. Believe it or not, these changes aren't willy-nilly. They have analysts who try to figure out the most profitable was to distribute their pricing plans.

Plus, I'm pretty sure that the current policy is that every group of new cash items have the permanent option available until the next group is released. That in itself would indicate that permanent items aren't suddenly returning as you insinuated.

PS: @Eosian, I was gonna just comment on a couple of your posts, but I decided that I should just ask for you hand in matrimony instead.

If I warned a blind person that he/she were about to walk into a wall, but, he/she got all peachy and whiny instead of being thankful and acknowledging that they were heading the wrong direction, then, yes, I sure as hell would give them a hard time.

Not being a native speaker is no excuse for being a douche.
