Ex-Hacker Finds RIFT Account Flaw

RIFT is the new MMORPG made by Trion, and in the past few weeks, everyone was getting hacked by some kind of exploit. This hacker found the exploit and posted how to fix it in the internet, few min later, he got called by Trion and 2 hours after the call, the bug was fixed.

What i think interesting about the interview:

ZAM: Do you feel comfortable with Trion’s response?

ManWitDaPlan: Extremely so. The response was flawlessly executed, and should become a textbook example of how a MMO company should respond to any discovered bug - contact the person that found it, get the details, verify their findings, act to secure the bug. Not only did the Trion crew take the exploit seriously, they took fixing it seriously. I mean, come on, reported discovery to implemented fixes in TWO HOURS? I've never seen anyone in IT respond to bug reports that fast.

this should honestly embarrass every mmo dev that isn't doing everything they can for account security

good stuff. Glad to see they're taking this game to a whole new level. I've heard some good things about Rift. Hope it turns out alright.

I'll be sticking to WoW though =).
