has anyone ever done it?
Talking about the therapy where you go talk to a therapist about your problems and pay loads of money to talk to a stranger.
Just wondering, considering it.

My dad had a lot of grief after his father's death and broke down one day. We convinced him to go talk to to a therapist/psychologist just to relieve his pent up emotions and stress. I can attest that he is a better man because of it. Sometimes you just need that social release by divulging to a stranger that isn't always available in the real world, where it all matters. If you feel you absolutely need therapy, why deny yourself it?

I have, several times. Big surprise. >.<
I went through a bunch before I found one that I actually liked and could talk to. Sometimes all you really need is someone to talk to, therapist or just a counseleor.
Just like Kurtle said.

Well, It's not that I feel I absolutely need it, it's just lately everyone has been running to me as a pillow to cry on and just getting tired of it.
I've got my own problems, both public and private, and I just shove them away and binge on koreagames most of the time. I used to write a personal blog to get stuff off my chest, but I stopped doing that when some bad stuff happened.
Don't know how I'll break this to my Dad though.

Your school should offer some sort of counseling service, even as a starting point. I know our counselors not only help us with college admissions, but are also a shoulder to cry on if necessary. Heck, even venting to a teacher is nice.

I went to a therapist for a little while after I had a breakdown of being lonely for 3+ years. He helped me get over it by helping me realize that a spectacular social life and being in a relationship isn't everything. Currently happy with the few friends I have, and waiting till college to break outta my "shell".

Understandable, I've never considered my school's counseling team. The ones at my school are usually too concerned with getting people in classes and keeping the dumb kids out of PreAP/AP so we can look super smart in comparison to everyone else. :/
I'll look into it, thought I don't really like my assigned counselor. In the mean time, I think I'll try to get back into drawing. Seems to help me cope I guess.

Nothing wrong with it. I see both a therapist and a psychiatrist, though I recently switched my psychiatrist. I know a lot of people who see professionals like this; better than keeping stuff bottled up.

Don't you guys use BFFs for these kinds of things or something? Would save a lot of money.

Good idea. Teenagers should definitely take advice from other teenagers.
Also, psychiatrists can prescribe drugs. Friends cannot.

I can't talk to my "BFF"s with these kind of things, cause the stuff that's bothering me deals with them. It's just I don't want to say something to hurt them because I overally think things I guess. I know it would save alot of money, but aside from my actual close friends being the issue theres the girls that think because I'm gay I care more and therefore can sit on a phone for three hours and listen to them rant about the party the night before and how she regrets having sex while I sat home on a date with DnF.

Stress and a certain level depression are normal things people of all ages go through. Depression, particularly, may or may not get worse as people enter college, partially due to exams and classes but mostly due to social interaction (or lack of - See: Erik Erikson). If it's just things on your mind, you can just dump them on your friend. Of course, use your judgement on who you ought to talk to and find someone who knows how to listen and/or gives good advice. Because obviously, those "teenage friends" lack credentials and credibility, it's more important to befriend a good listener than an advice-giver or take their advice with a grain of salt. That was mostly responding to your "better than keeping stuff bottled up" comment.
If you're severely suffering from depression or stress, then sure by all means, seek professional help. Read up on depression and see how severe is severe: bodily aches, lack of motivation, lack of interests, etc.

Everybody overly thinks things with it comes to serious relationships. If your problems involves the one person (or people) who you can talk to, it's best that you actually talk to them about it. Chances are, unless you aim to hurt them, they aren't going to be hurt (unless you're breaking up with someone in which case, there's bound to be some hurt). It's not good when you're hiding things from your friends or lover. That's how bonding works and why you can say "my best friend knows everything about me". If it's your lover, that gets a little risky so yes, watch what you say and how you say it.
As for the girl, this isn't an elemental schoolyard bully problem so you're free to talk to the girl that you don't like being her Angry Dome. If she hates you for being straight up, standing up for yourself and not liking being her peach, then she's not a good friend.

Did you try your school counselor?
Edit: I obviously can't read the posts above me.

I went to therapy when I several years ago, it helped me deal with several issues. I'd say you should only go if you really, really feel you need to.

Thanks for the responses guys, I'm going to consider talking to my school counselor and see if she can get me a refferal to a therapist or something. I just don't feel comfortable with talking to her about these things, she doesn't give off a "I'm a gay accepting person" vibe which is rare here in Texas.
Again, thanks.

If you don't mind opening up to a complete stranger you can't go wrong.
I've been in therapy before, but my mind is my safe haven, so I probably didn't get the full benefits as someone who can completely pour themselves out to a stranger.
