Two general questions about calculating damage
#1
I was wondering what monster stats other than PDRate/MDRate affect the damage dealt to a monster. More specifically:

1. After BB, is there a damage penalty for being lower level than a given monster? If so, what is the formula?

2. After BB, does a monster's weap/magic def. reduce the damage dealt to the monster? If so what is the formula?

Thank you in advance for your time

1. -1% overall damage penalty per level.

2. I think the way Fiel introduced the new defense variables just confused the hell out of everybody because there seems to be a general misconception that there is a PDRate and then another defense variable. PDRate is weapon defense as much as tuc is the number of upgrade slots on your items. All defense was changed to being a multiplier instead of a flat reduction.

(It's because of the misconception that I avoid using the terms PDRate and MDRate as much as possible. It's just weapon and magic defense.)

Thank you Dusk. One follow up question on #2.

In the latest mob extraction data there is Weap/Magic Def. listed in addition to PDRate/MDRate for each monster. Does this mean that the Weap/Magic Def. is extraneous information that does not affect the game?

It was the only way to portray the information as is stated in the WZ files. The fact that both exist side by side (and are still updated side by side) is onerous to say the least. At the time of introduction, no one knew how the calculations worked until later.

If you have a better method of displaying new, random, never-before-seen numbers without confusing everyone ex-post-facto I'd sincerely appreciate the input.

As far as showing both weapon/magic defense and PDRate/MDRate - it's just a just-in-case thing.

I'm not blaming you for the way things turned out, I'm just saying what happened was confusing.
